Rockstar Shocks Fans with Sudden Price Hike on Red Dead Redemption Games!

In the last couple of weeks, the prices for both Red Dead Redemption and Red Dead Redemption 2 have subtly gone up on the UK PlayStation Store. This has led to an increase of £10 for Red Dead Redemption and a rise of £5 for Red Dead Redemption 2.

The price hikes that were initially noticed on our related platform Pure Xbox for the Xbox One edition of the sequel, as well as the playable-on-Xbox-One version of the original game, will also affect the PlayStation 4 versions.

Initially priced at £39.99 upon its simple PS4 release, Red Dead Redemption on the PlayStation Store now costs £49.99. Similarly, Red Dead Redemption 2 has remained at £54.99 since at least June 2021, but it has recently increased to £59.99 within the last week. Check PS Prices for a record of the price hikes.

The combined package of the two games has been raised by £15, now costing £99.99, compared to its previous price of £84.99. As reported by Pure Xbox, the Xbox versions of both games have undergone a price hike in Brazil, Czech Republic, and Chile as well.

Currently, the cost of video games and potential future increases is causing quite a buzz, as fans wonder if Rockstar will push the envelope beyond $80 when pricing GTA 6, given that Nintendo and Microsoft have established this new standard for some of their first-party releases. The price hikes for two of Rockstar’s older titles have been in effect for a week now, leading many to speculate that these changes were intended, although it’s possible that some people may not yet have noticed or corrected them if they haven’t.
