Rocksteady Lining Up New Single Player Batman Game After Suicide Squad Disaster, It’s Claimed

According to a recent report by Bloomberg, Rocksteady Studios plans to revisit the Batman universe with a new standalone game, after their multiplayer title Suicide Squad: Kill the Justice League did not perform as expected. Journalist Jason Schreier reveals that the developer is actively exploring the opportunity to create another single-player Batman game.

It’s uncertain if this upcoming game is a continuation of the Batman: Arkham series or something completely fresh. However, it seems that we’ll have to wait for quite some time, as insiders suggest that the new project is still several years from release.

Following the completion of Batman: Arkham Knight and its additional content, the UK-based team delved into the online multiplayer realm with Suicide Squad: Kill the Justice League. Unfortunately, this venture turned out to be a critical and financial flop, leading to a loss of approximately $200 million in production and marketing costs. The game’s launch was followed by lackluster post-release support, which has recently been concluded in a comic book within the game that largely undid the major narrative surprises. Instead of actually eliminating the Justice League, it was revealed that the superheroes were merely clones of their original selves.

For enthusiasts of the developer, this news comes as a delight since the prior Batman: Arkham series are often hailed among the top superhero games ever produced. Currently, it’s said that some members of the studio are assisting Avalanche Software on an extended version of Hogwarts Legacy, meaning not all team members are available for a new Batman release at present.
