Following the concluding content update for the critically panned “Suicide Squad: Kill the Justice League” last month, there have been whispers that Rocksteady might revisit the Batman series. A recent report by Bloomberg has validated this speculation, revealing that it is indeed a standalone game. However, fans may need to exercise patience as its release could be some time away.
Individuals who understand the project’s timeline have disclosed that the project is still several years from being released. While this news may be disappointing, it’s not entirely unexpected – reports suggest that Rockstar has been planning a new single-player game as far back as June 2024. Since they completed work on Suicide Squad, it seems that the initial stages of development for the new project have only recently begun.
In light of the live-action shooter’s disappointing performance, the studio has also had to let go some employees. Given the circumstances, it wouldn’t be unexpected if they required some time to assemble a new team.
Warner Bros. Games has encountered another obstacle, as their Wonder Woman game developed by Monolith is reportedly being rebooted. The project was announced in December 2021 and has already accumulated over $100 million in its budget, yet remains several years from release (though that timeline may change). Keep an eye out for future updates on this situation.
