Rory Feek is saying “I do” to a new chapter.
Eight years after his wife and musical collaborator Joey Feek lost her life to cervical cancer, the “One Angel” singer revealed that he has married Indiana’s fifth-grade teacher and longtime friend, Rebecca.
In his blog post, Rory shared that he and Rebecca got married on July 14 at a timber-frame pavilion in Greycliff, Montana. He mentioned that although they had been a couple for some time, the marriage came about due to his daughter’s involvement.
“Up until then, Indiana had viewed Rebecca primarily as ‘Miss Rebecca,’ her respected teacher and friend,” Rory explained, “and neither of us had given the idea of marriage much thought.”
Fortunately for the couple, Indiana shared a suggestion with Rebecca around late March while they were enjoying time on Rory’s farm together.
In the kitchen once again, the musician reminisced, was where Rebecca had shared, “Rory, Indiana has asked something of you that I believe is important.” (This version aims to preserve the original’s meaning while making it more conversational and flow naturally.)
He shared with me what Indy had said when I asked her: “I believe you should marry Papa, Ms. Rebecca,” she suggested. I was pleased by this news but taken aback, so I responded by suggesting that we all need to consider this seriously and pray about it.
Indy shared with Rory and Rebecca, “My mom has been missing for a long while. If she were to marry one of you, perhaps she could become a new mother figure for me.”
Rory remembers wiping away tears and added that he and Rebecca began wedding planning soon after.
At their wedding, the country singer sang a heartfelt song called “I Do” for Rebecca as a surprise. He also released a moving video of their wedding moments that were captured in the song.
During the festivities, Rory and Rebecca shared a particularly cherished experience that stood out to them as their favorite.
When Indiana received the blessing of having Rebecca as her mother figure once more, Rory penned down. Similarly, Rebecca obtained the priceless gift of motherhood.
