Read on to learn more about Ruby Franke and where she is now.

Who is Ruby Franke?

Ruby Franke, aged 43, used to be a family vlogger, and she previously managed the YouTube channel known as 8 Passengers, which no longer exists.

In 2015, Franke established a channel to share glimpses of her family life with her spouse and kids. By now, five years later, this channel has attracted over 2.5 million subscribers and recorded a staggering 1 billion views.

In some of her videos, she presented a typical family setting, but certain instances raised eyebrows among spectators.

In a video, Franke explained that her daughter had to skip lunch because she forgot to bring it to school that day.

In the video (via BBC News), she stated, “I hope no one provides her with food or a meal, as doing so would prevent her from learning on her own.

What did Ruby Franke do?

Back in 2020, I, a devoted cinephile, found myself in an unusual predicament: my mischievous antics towards my younger sibling landed me on a beanbag bed for a staggering seven-month stretch. Quite the cinematic twist, don’t you think?

Previously, Franke had warned about destroying one of her child’s treasured toys and informed two others that Santa wouldn’t be delivering any gifts at Christmas because they were acting unfeeling.

In a video, Franke stated that it’s due to their extreme lethargy; the greater the stimulus required to rouse a child from this state, the larger the impact will be. [AP News]

In 2023, Franke was taken into custody following an incident where her 12-year-old son escaped through a window and sought help at a neighbor’s house, requesting food and water. Upon examination, the boy appeared severely undernourished and had duct tape on his ankles and wrists. The concerned neighbor then contacted the police.

According to the Santa-Clara Ivins Public Safety Department’s statement, it was reported by the calling party (the neighbor) that the juvenile seemed extremely thin and malnourished, with visible wounds and tape wrapped around their limbs.

On his arrival, authorities noticed that the boy’s injuries and signs of malnutrition were quite pronounced. This was further indicated.

In the subsequent investigation, it was discovered that Franke’s daughter was undernourished and had been admitted to the hospital from her business partner’s residence.

Franke’s other two children were placed in the care of child protection services.

By December 2023, Franke admitted her guilt for four charges of severe child abuse. However, she disputed two additional charges by claiming not guilty.

Where is Ruby Franke now?

In the month of February 2024, Ruby Franke received a sentence that required her to serve four prison terms, each ranging from one to 15 years. This means she will spend a minimum of four years behind bars.

Following the delivery of her verdict, Franke expressed (through BBC News) that she felt so bewildered that she mistook darkness for light and right for wrong.

It seemed to me that the world is inherently wicked, populated by authorities who oppress, medical institutions causing harm, administrative bodies manipulating minds, religious figures who deceive and covet, men who neglect their protective roles, and young ones requiring mistreatment.

I thought the world was a dark place, filled with enforcers that suppress freedom, healthcare providers causing injury, bureaucrats twisting truths, clergy deceiving and desiring, husbands failing to shield, and children needing punishment.
