Rudy Pankow is trading in the outer banks for a new adventure.
As a die-hard fan bursting with excitement, I can’t contain my enthusiasm! I’ve just learned that the talented actor from Outer Banks will be part of Universal Pictures’ adaptation of Colleen Hoover’s novel, Reminders of Him. TopMob News confirmed this fantastic news on April 16th, and I can hardly wait to see the magic they’ll bring to life!
TopMob has reached out to reps for Rudy and Colleen but has not heard back.
In an upcoming movie, we find a story about a young mother, fresh out of prison, who’s striving to reconnect with her 4-year-old daughter. The actor Rudy is set to portray Scott Landry, the romantic interest of Kenna Rowan, played by Maika Monroe. Additionally, Tyriq Withers has been selected for a role as well.
The film, directed by Vanessa Caswill, is currently set for a February 13, 2026, release.
Absolutely, “Reminders of Him” is one of several films based on Hoover’s works in development. Coming soon to screens are also adaptations of “It Ends With Us,” “Regretting You,” and “Verity.” The latter two have impressive cast lineups. “Regretting You,” directed by “The Fault in Our Stars” director Josh Boone, features Allison Williams, McKenna Grace, Scott Eastwood, Dave Franco, and others. The book sensation “Verity” stars Anne Hathaway as the title character alongside Josh Hartnett and Dakota Johnson.
In the movie “Reminders of Him“, Rudy takes on a new role, which is his first since his character, Jackson “JJ” Mayback from “Outer Banks“, met his end in the series’ surprising fourth-season finale back in November.
And while it was a shock to viewers, Rudy was prepared for the moment.
According to Shannon Burke, one of the creators, he appeared enthusiastic about it. In fact, his excitement stemmed from the concept of crafting a death or dying scene in general.
She clarified that the concept of a Pogue character meeting their end had been implicit from the start of the series. By the time we reached the second season, it became clear that it would be JJ who would eventually meet his demise.
Yet, parting with Rudy before the series’ fifth and last season proved challenging for the cast.
According to co-creator Jonas Pate, who was in charge of directing the final episode, “They were deeply affected by it,” because they have a deep affection for Rudy and consider the cast to be close friends.
