Rugby Sevens: Women’s Final

As a former rugby sevens player and having closely followed the sport for years, I can confidently say that last year, Australia reigned supreme, dominating the sevens scene much like Manchester City does in football. Witnessing Maddison Levi’s natural athleticism and her exceptional technique on the field leaves me in awe. If I had been in her shoes as a former winger, I would have cherished even a fraction of the grace she possesses while running with the ball.


In the previous year, Australia dominated the Rugby Sevens scene, earning title after title, akin to Manchester City’s success in football. Witnessing Maddison Levi is like watching an exceptionally gifted and athletic individual; her mastery of technique and strength is astounding. As a previous winger, I could only dream of possessing the elegance she brings to her runs. However, New Zealand emerged victorious in this year’s world series, marking Portia Woodman-Wickliffe’s final Olympics appearance. A revered figure in the sport, Woodman-Wickliffe’s legacy is undeniable. Consequently, both Australia and New Zealand appear to be the top contenders for this competition. Although unexpected outcomes are possible, they don’t occur frequently. The caliber and finesse displayed in Rugby Sevens truly sets these teams apart. UGO MONYE
