Rumor: Red Dead Redemption 2 Getting Huge Upgrade for PS5 and Xbox Series X|S!

It’s been buzzed that Red Dead Redemption 2 may be receiving an updated edition for Xbox Series X|S and PlayStation 5. Known for crafting colossal, highly ambitious titles with expansive open-world landscapes, captivating narratives, and immersive sandboxes, Rockstar Games has a reputation for delivering epic experiences. Yet, this ambition often comes with a tradeoff: their console releases usually operate at 30 frames per second (FPS), making them the exclusive domain of these consoles for at least a year. For many, this isn’t a significant problem, but as more games run at higher frame rates, fans are increasingly clamoring for the most fluid and high-performing versions of these titles.

Unlike other game developers who have hastily released remasters or updates for their games on modern consoles, Rockstar Games appears to be taking a more measured approach. There’s talk that “Grand Theft Auto IV” might be ported later this year, potentially landing on PS5 and Nintendo Switch with enhanced resolution and frames per second (FPS). Previously, “Red Dead Redemption 1” was brought to PS4, but it didn’t initially offer 60FPS. However, this feature was added later via an update. It appears that Rockstar aims to make its top games easily playable while also ensuring they run smoothly for the best gaming experience.

Red Dead Redemption 2 May Be Coming to Xbox Series X|S and PS5

It’s great to hear that a rumor circulating from GameReactor suggests that the long-awaited update for a smoother 60FPS experience in “Red Dead Redemption 2” might be on its way. This rumor also hints at the potential release of an updated version for Nintendo Switch 2, as well as enhanced versions for Xbox Series X|S and PS5 to improve graphics and performance. Originally launched in 2018 for PS4 and Xbox One, “Red Dead Redemption 2” hasn’t seen significant improvements when run on newer hardware. Fans have been clamoring for a native version compatible with current-generation consoles since 2020, and considering the numerous versions of “GTA 5,” it’s quite surprising that this hasn’t happened yet.

For the upcoming version, Rockstar Games didn’t specify a release date yet, but considering GTA 6 has been delayed to next year and rumors about GTA 4’s arrival this year, it’s plausible they might want to align with the Nintendo Switch 2 launch window. Launch windows are typically rare, and if they can capitalize on the massive fanbase eager for new games on the upcoming system, it would be a significant advantage. It’s possible we may get updates about the Red Dead Redemption 2 remaster/port later this summer during Summer Game Fest or a Nintendo Direct.

It’s unlikely that fans will see significant new content soon, as Rockstar Games has been intensely focused on developing Grand Theft Auto 6 over the past five to seven years. This suggests they may not have the necessary resources at this time to create any new single-player content for the game.
