Rumored Spider-Man 4 Plot Details May Explain Peter’s Absence in Avengers: Doomsday

As a dedicated movie enthusiast, I’ve been eagerly awaiting the cast lineup for “Avengers: Doomsday.” Although Marvel Studios has announced an impressive roster of actors, some notable names were conspicuously absent. One of those missing faces was Tom Holland, our beloved Spider-Man. It seems that fans might finally understand why his chair isn’t on the set of “Doomsday.” In the latest issue of his newsletter, renowned Hollywood insider Jeff Sneider has shared some intriguing insights about the plot for “Spider-Man 4.” Despite the fact that Holland is currently grappling with a high-profile scheduling clash over “Doomsday” (which is now in production), it turns out that there’s more to the story. The tale Marvel wants to spin in “Spider-Man 4” appears to unfold during the very events of “Doomsday.

Similarly, you won’t find Tom Holland in the movie “Doomsday”, not primarily because of his busy schedule (he’s currently filming Christopher Nolan’s “The Odyssey” and then moving on to “Spider-Man 4”), but rather due to the characters’ schedules. It seems that “Spider-Man 4” is set during the same time as “Doomsday”, which could explain his absence from the latter film, according to Sneider’s statement. He also mentioned unconfirmed rumors suggesting Chameleon will be the villain in “Spider-Man 4”, but he advised to treat this information with a bit of skepticism.

As a passionate cinephile, I eagerly tuned into Marvel Studios’ exclusive livestream event to celebrate the commencement of Avengers: Doomsday production. To my excitement, they unveiled an impressive roster of 27 talented individuals who will be gracing our screens in this epic film. This extensive lineup didn’t just feature stars from different installments of the Multiverse Saga, but also actors hailing from Fox’s X-Men cinematic universe. Regrettably, no Spider-Man actors were among those announced.

Filming for Nolan’s movie adaptation of “The Odyssey,” titled as such, commenced in February. Photos leaked online last month hinted at Holland working on the historical blockbuster. Upon completion of “The Odyssey,” Holland is expected to move on to “Spider-Man 4,” set to commence filming this summer and premiering in July 2026. Amongst the buzz surrounding the film, one rumor suggests that it will introduce a female antagonist, sparking curiosity about whether Black Cat might appear in the storyline.

Immediately following the unveiling of the Doomsday cast, Marvel hinted at further announcements down the line. Although it appears probable that there are more hidden gems in store for Doomsday, it seems unlikely that Tom Holland will be included. For fans who appreciate his portrayal of Peter Parker, this may come as a letdown; however, it could be beneficial if Holland decides to step aside from this project. With Avengers: Doomsday already carrying a heavy load (possibly more than initially anticipated), there’s a risk of spreading things too thin. Given the many objectives the film aims to achieve, it might have been challenging to incorporate Spider-Man into the intricate plotline. After the emotional conclusion of No Way Home, Peter Parker’s character deserves to take center stage in another solo movie before rejoining the team. By doing so, Marvel can effectively delve into the aftermath of Peter’s situation before potentially reuniting him with Earth’s Mightiest once more.

Although it may appear that Holland’s character, Holland, isn’t directly involved in the Doomsday scenario, there’s a chance he won’t be completely absent from the finale of the Multiverse Saga. The filming for Avengers: Secret Wars is scheduled for next year, and it’s possible that Spider-Man 4 could set up Peter’s character for this movie. Some fans are expecting a more grounded storyline in Spider-Man 4, but given its proximity to the two Avengers films, it’s likely that it will touch upon the Multiverse in some way – even if it’s just a hint about Doctor Doom’s arrival at the end of the credits.
