Rumour: Halo: The Master Chief Collection Coming to PS5 This Year

One of the queries PlayStation users are eager to find answers for in 2025 is how Microsoft’s multi-platform strategies will develop beyond their initial set of PS5 and PS4 ports for future games like DOOM: The Dark Ages and The Outer Worlds 2. While it’s been confirmed that Sony systems will host these upcoming titles, the fate of Microsoft’s back catalog games remains uncertain. As per industry insider NateDrake on his podcast, there are rumors suggesting that Halo: The Master Chief Collection and Microsoft Flight Simulator might be among the titles making the transition.

According to NateDrake, Flight Simulator, Halo: The Master Chief Collection, and The Elder Scrolls IV: Oblivion remake will be released on multiple platforms including PlayStation 5 and Nintendo Switch 2 in the year 2025, aside from the games that are already known to be coming out.

An industry insider, NateDrake, who is well-respected and frequently accurate in his forecasts, is often active on the ResetEra forum. He recently stated: “Microsoft is likely to fully commit to promoting third-party games. In fact, I predict that any game released by Microsoft this year will eventually be playable on the PS5, Switch 2, or both. The question becomes when rather than if.

Although some Microsoft games slated for 2025 have been announced to be playable on the PS5, there are still missing titles such as “South of Midnight” and possibly “Fable”. Additionally, game analyst NateDrake speculates that if a “Gears of War” compilation is in development, it might debut exclusively on the PS5 on its release day.

Among the top-tier gaming assortments, refined over the years post-release, Halo: The Master Chief Collection gathers together Halo: Anniversary, Halo 2: Anniversary, Halo 3, Halo 3: ODST, Halo Reach, and Halo 4 under one digital roof. The complete single player and multiplayer aspects are preserved in this collection.
