As a seasoned Elder Scrolls aficionado who’s traversed the treacherous landscapes of Tamriel countless times, I must say that the prospect of a remake for The Elder Scrolls IV: Oblivion has me positively giddy with excitement!
Prior to the massive phenomenon known as The Elder Scrolls V: Skyrim, there existed its predecessor, The Elder Scrolls IV: Oblivion.
Experiencing the timeless adventure offered by an open-world RPG, such as Oblivion – a game that has sparked numerous internet jokes throughout history – remains enjoyable even today, despite its occasional technical quirks. It’s not hard to make a case that its unconventional leveling systems and amusingly spoken characters add to its allure.
It seems there’s a buzz about a possible remake being in the works, as reported by Insider Gaming. This speculation apparently stemmed from a now-deleted post on Reddit, which some claim was an authentic leak. The credibility of this leak has been allegedly confirmed by administrators of the GamingLeaksAndRumours subreddit.
As someone privy to inside scoops, I’ve learned that valuable insights often stem from my past connections with Virtuos – a versatile development powerhouse with a global footprint. They specialize in an array of projects, including breathtaking remasters and remakes, outsourced assets, updates, and DLC for top-tier games.
Virtuos is behind Metal Gear Solid Delta, for instance, and very recently, it developed Patch 2.2 for Cyberpunk 2077.
Based on information from an unknown source, a remake of Oblivion is reportedly underway and being developed using Unreal Engine 5. The initial expectation was that it would be released towards the end of 2024, but given the current circumstances, that seems highly unlikely. An alternative release date suggested was early 2025, though this too appears doubtful at present.
However, it’s important to note that this discussion revolves around the authenticity of the project. Just like previous speculations about remasters of Bethesda’s classic games, there have been murmurs. Yet, this recent leak seems to carry more substance compared to past rumors.
