Ubisoft has a new battle royale game in development, reportedly.
As a devoted gamer, I can’t help but share some intriguing insights about an upcoming game. Tom Henderson from Insider Gaming, who’s known for his impeccable accuracy with the French publisher, hints that this new project is deeply influenced by Respawn Entertainment’s Apex Legends.
The project seems to be called ‘Scout’, and it’s been under development for approximately two years. Similar to Apex Legends, this game is planned to focus on heroes in a shooting game setting.
One captivating aspect of this document revolves around the approval of ‘Scout’. It appears that Ubisoft executives recognized an opening in the battle royale market, as titles similar to Apex Legends were seemingly experiencing a slow downturn.
In our view, this could be a risky route to take, given the circumstances. A recent analysis indicates that although battle royale games seem to be losing some ground in popularity, it might be because Fortnite, one of the market leaders, is overwhelmingly ruling the genre at present.
The question is if there’s truly an opportunity for a fresh competitor in the battle royale genre, considering Ubisoft had attempted to break into this market with Hyper Scape in 2020, only for the game to be closed down less than a year and a half after its launch.
