Rumour: Until Dawn Dev’s Unannounced Blade Runner PS6, PS5 Game Cancelled

It appears that Supermassive Games, known for creating Until Dawn, had reportedly been developing a secret game set in the Blade Runner universe for both PS6 and PS5. Unfortunately, this project has since been terminated.

As per a recent report by Insider Gaming, the project reportedly began pre-production in September of the previous year, with the aim to commence operations by 2025. The tentative release date was set for around 2027, and the team had ambitions to optimize the game for both current and upcoming console generations.

This upcoming project is said to be titled “Blade Runner: Time to Live” and offers a blend of captivating cinematic storytelling with third-person action-adventure gameplay. In the year 2065, you’ll take on the role of So-Lange, the last remaining Blade Runner character.

It seems quite intriguing on the surface, yet the project was ultimately scrapped. According to Insider Gaming, production company Alcon Entertainment might be responsible for this decision. Alcon currently holds the rights to all things Blade Runner, but the specific reasons they halted the project late last year remain unclear.

It’s undeniably disappointing that this project got cancelled; a series like Blade Runner, from the standpoint of a studio such as Supermassive, definitely holds an allure. Nevertheless, it appears the production process was only just starting up – so there’s hope that not much of significant value was discarded.
