For some time now, whispers about a re-imagining of “The Elder Scrolls 4: Oblivion” have been circulating, and recent indications suggest that this might not just be speculation. Previous reports hinted at the development of this remake taking place at Virtuos, with them supposedly employing an Unreal Engine 5 framework for its creation.
It appears that the LinkedIn profile of an employee at Virtuos, Oleksii Moskovchenko, strengthens those rumors since he’s a technical art director at their Shanghai studio. He mentions on his profile that he is working on an unannounced remake using Unreal Engine 5 and plans to release it for Xbox Series X/S, PS5, and PC. This implies that Microsoft will likely maintain its trend of multiplatform releases, which isn’t unexpected in light of current circumstances.
Reports from December hint that Microsoft and Bethesda might be preparing to unveil the remake of Oblivion during their anticipated Developer Direct event in January. If these reports are accurate, we can expect the release to occur later this year itself. Keep an eye out for further news in the upcoming days.
