RuPaul’s Drag Race Star Valentina Shocks Fans by Coming Out as Transgender on Her Birthday!

A former contestant on “RuPaul’s Drag Race,” who appeared in season nine and the fourth season of “All Stars,” marked her 34th birthday by revealing on Instagram that she is transgender, expressing her emotions in a heartfelt post.

Hi there, this message is from Valentina Xunaxi, and guess what? It’s her birthday today! She’s 34 years old now. Recently, Valentina has been going through a transition phase in her life. Although she’s kept it private until now, today she decided to disclose and share this journey with all of you. (Valentina posted this on May 14.)

She went on to say, “During this journey, I’ve faced a sense of necessity to reveal my identity. Today, I am choosing to do just that – I am a transgender woman. I am grateful for the affection, encouragement, and safety my wonderful fans can provide. Thank you from the bottom of my heart.

At the end of her post, she appended it with three pictures showing her clad in a white tank top, followed by a couple of symbols – a pink heart and the emblem of the transgender flag.

In response to her post, the host of Drag Race Mexico was showered with affection by other prominent figures in the drag community.

As a lifestyle guide, I’d put it this way: “On your special day, here’s wishing you a joyous birthday! Sending love from grandma, Bianca Del Rio. And Jewels Sparkles adds, ‘Happy Birthday my dear, I adore you endlessly!’

As a devoted fan, I’d like to share that the victor of Drag Race Season 12, Jaida Essence Hall, extended warm wishes to Valentina on her special day, penning, “Happy birthday, gorgeous!! Sending you love!

The In The Heights actress had previously come out as nonbinary back in 2019.

In an interview with Out, Valentina expressed that she identifies as nonbinary. She doesn’t entirely align herself with being a man or a woman. Instead, she feels like a deity and sees herself as her unique gender.

In that very year, she assumed the renowned role of Angel, a character whose gender identity has sparked debate for quite some time.

In the role, Valentina expressed, “I’m able to infuse that trait into my Angel character, and I can essentially ponder, ‘What makes her so joyful and self-assured while donning her armor and wings?’

She stated, ‘As a gay, non-binary drag queen stepping into such an influential and renowned role like Angel’s, I accept the responsibility. I invite everyone to watch this unfold.’

The Dance Moms alum didn’t give it a second thought when she came out in a 2021 Instagram story.

For Matt, revealing his true identity to his traditionally religious Christian relatives signaled the beginning of a fresh chapter in his personal journey.

Speaking about it, the former star of White Collar, who has three children with husband Simon Halls, expressed to OUT Magazine that revealing this information was an incredibly significant event. “I see my life as split between the time before I informed my parents, and the time after. The choices I made, and the way I lived, were drastically different before and after. It’s like comparing night to day.

[She later recognized] that such flamboyance symbolizes femininity, which unfortunately is often the target of hate. She expressed this realization as, “Oh my God, this is just so messed up,” referring to the underlying misogyny behind the prejudice against flamboyant gay people.

She went on to say, “After much unlearning, there are still aspects I find perplexing, which sometimes makes me uneasy about my homosexuality. I can’t understand why this is such a challenge for me, but I know it shouldn’t be. Some internal struggle is going on, and I must come to terms with it.

On an episode of “The View,” the former contestant from “The Bachelorette” announced that she is in a long-term romantic partnership with another woman.

In the August 2023 episode, she explained that she had been quiet about it as it involves a larger topic and discussion, since she is dating someone of the same gender.

She went on saying, “There was a soft voice within me that grew stronger and stronger over time, which I hadn’t fully recognized. I wasn’t sure how significant it was at first. But when it did become clearer, there was some embarrassment involved. I had to carefully navigate my way through that feeling of shame; trying to understand its source.

In January 2024, the actress known for her role in “Mean Girls” made a significant announcement on “Saturday Night Live”. She had earlier identified as bisexual but revealed that she now identifies as a lesbian. Her friends were instrumental in helping her make this decision public.

She mentioned to Billboard months later that there were individuals who identified as nonbinary, transgender, or lesbians surrounding her, and she expressed, “I feel so content in your presence, and I even want to identify as a lesbian when I’m with you.

The former late-night host officially came out as queer on the last day of Pride month in 2024. 

In her Instagram post dated June 2024, she declared, “Today, on the final day of PRIDE, I’m making a surprise announcement – I am queer!” She donned a tank top bearing the word “Queer” in this post.

Feel confident in your identity, dear infants!” she exclaimed. “I take pride in myself, and I eagerly anticipate facing discrimination for another cause!

Previously popular on the Disney Channel, she admitted that prior to openly identifying as part of the LGBTQ+ community, she harbored fears about publicly acknowledging her queer identity.

She confided to Gay Times in May 2021 that she’s been subtly suggesting her sexuality over the years, but held back from openly declaring it. Last year, she created a lyric video for ‘We Belong.’ It featured line drawings of people falling in love. Notably, these drawings depicted a man and a woman embracing passionately, which was an unusual moment for her.

During the release of the song, people assumed it was a powerful anthem for the LGBTQ+ community. I found myself in a situation where many believed I was intentionally creating confusion about my sexuality, which is often referred to as queerbaiting. To clear this up, I went live on Instagram and stated, “I feel compelled to clarify something to you all. Although I may not have explicitly said it before, I identify strongly as queer. I want to express this aspect of myself through my music because it’s a significant part of who I am.

The “Heart Attack” singer came out as non-binary in a 2021 Instagram post.

In her caption, she expressed that each new day offers us a fresh chance to become who we aspire to be. For many years, you’ve all watched me evolve… you’ve seen my ups and downs, every aspect of my life. My journey wasn’t just about me; I was also living for those behind the cameras, the people who see more than just the public figure.

Today, I’m thrilled to divulge more about my personal journey with all of you – I’m pleased to announce that I identify as non-binary and will adopt they/them pronouns in the future. This decision has been made after a significant period of healing and introspection. I’m on a continuous learning journey, discovering more about myself, and I don’t consider myself an authority or spokesperson on this topic. Revealing this to you today adds another layer of vulnerability for me.

A graduate from the Bachelor institution, who has been in a relationship with singer Hayley Kiyoko since 2018, waited four years into their partnership before openly announcing it. Although it initially felt strange when people discovered this, she recognized the power of revealing her personal truth to the public.

If it provides even one person the courage to embrace who they truly love without fear, then that impact surpasses my own apprehensions and concerns.” It’s incredibly humbling to see the impact of something as fundamental as falling in love and openly expressing it.

Three years following his revelation to his family at the age of 15, Troye made his personal experience public through a YouTube video. He explained that his choice to disclose his identity was prompted by a significant turning point in his life.

He shared with People magazine in February 2022 that he was on the verge of finalizing his record deal, and he yearned for control over his artistic expression. He didn’t want anyone to strip that freedom from him. Instead, he desired to venture out to gay clubs, socialize with men, and compose sincere and authentic love songs.

The star from the show “Selling Sunset,” who’s wedded to artist G Flip, emphasizes the significance of putting yourself first.

In Chrishell’s words to TopMob News in 2022, she emphasized that if someone genuinely cares for you, their joy should always take precedence over their convictions. She advised against bending to other people’s expectations for your life. After all, it’s your life, and you only get one chance at it.
