Rurouni Kenshin: Kyoto Disturbance Arc Crosses Swords in New Trailer: Watch

As a long-time fan of anime, I can confidently say that the revival of Rurouni Kenshin has brought back some nostalgic vibes and a thrilling sense of anticipation. Having grown up with Himura Kenshin’s adventures in the Kyoto Disturbance Arc, I can hardly wait to see how Liden Films breathes new life into this classic story.

The narrative of Rurouni Kenshin centers around a peace-loving protagonist, yet this tranquil samurai saga doesn’t shy away from plenty of thrilling action sequences. Originating as a manga in Weekly Shonen Jump magazine back in 1994, the series gained significant popularity and led to an anime adaptation, along with numerous live-action movies. As part of one of the most anticipated fall anime seasons, the Kyoto Disturbance Arc has unveiled a new trailer, offering tantalizing glimpses into the future for Battosai, his companions, and their formidable adversaries.

In 2023, the reboot of the beloved series “Rurouni Kenshin” was unveiled, resuming the narrative from where the original manga’s story began. Previously a ruthless samurai with no hesitation to take lives for his missions, Himura Kenshin would later discover that his actions had far-reaching consequences. Opting to never kill again, he transformed from a relentless, emotionless killer into a comical character who still possessed the might of his sword and his training. In the Kyoto Disturbance Arc, audiences can anticipate Himura encountering what is likely the most formidable villain in the entire series.

Fans of “Rurouni Kenshin” will remember that Himura wasn’t the sole swordsman to bear the title of “Battosai,” or the Man Slayer. A man named Shishio Makoto also held this title, unlike Kenshin who vowed against taking human life. Despite being severely burned and disfigured, Shishio continues his wicked ambitions without pause. His aim is to overthrow the government and seize control of Japan for himself. To achieve this, he has gathered some of the world’s deadliest assassins to assist him. As a result, when “Rurouni Kenshin” anime returns next month, Himura and his companions will face the battle of their lives.

Kenshin’s Controversy

The Rurouni Kenshin series has been embroiled in debate for quite some time now. In 2017, creator Nobuhiro Watsuki was under investigation for child pornography possession and was subsequently sentenced by the Japanese government the following year. Voice actor Howard Wang, who portrays Kenshin, acknowledged the issue openly and stated that he does not approve of Watsuki’s actions in any way. As a result, Wang has decided to donate a portion of his earnings from the series to charity as a gesture of making amends. Despite this controversy, the anime adaptation is still moving forward under the guidance of Liden Films.

The Kyoto Disturbance Arc

The second season of the revival for the series “Rurouni Kenshin” is set to start on October 3rd, joining an overflowing autumn season with shows like “Dragon Ball Daima”, “DandaDan”, “Blue Lock Season 2”, “Adult Swim’s Uzumaki”, “Re:Zero Season 3”, and “Bleach: Thousand-Year Blood War Part 3” among others. Although there was an “Rurouni Kenshin” anime previously, this fresh reboot is preparing to delve into one of the franchise’s most significant storylines and should undoubtedly carve out its niche amidst the bustling fall lineup.
