Rush Hour 4 Being Pitched Around Hollywood, With Brett Ratner Attached

As a seasoned gamer and movie enthusiast with over two decades of experience under my belt, I can’t help but feel a rollercoaster of emotions when it comes to the potential return of the iconic duo from Rush Hour 4. On one hand, the thought of seeing Jackie Chan and Chris Tucker back in action is exhilarating, transporting me back to my teenage years where I spent countless hours mimicking their epic fight scenes and hilarious banter.

For over a decade now, there have been talks about a fourth film in the “Rush Hour” series. The original stars, Jackie Chan and Chris Tucker, have both shown enthusiasm for reprising their roles as Yan Naing Lee and James Carter respectively. Recently, Jackie Chan mentioned discussions about the project back in 2022. As per a recent report by “The Hollywood Reporter”, Lionsgate executives met up in July to deliberate on this movie. However, it might bring Brett Ratner back into the limelight of Hollywood, which some may find unsettling due to past allegations against him.

It seems that for the production of a fourth “Rush Hour” movie, it is suggested that Brett Ratner, who directed the first three installments, might be involved. However, since allegations of sexual misconduct and harassment were made against him in 2017, Ratner has not worked on any film since then. At that time, many people, including Elliot Page, a former colleague of Ratner from “X-Men: The Last Stand,” publicly criticized the director. As reported by THR, Ratner is said to have been involved in the pitch for “Rush Hour 4” as both the potential director and producer.

The report indicates that Ratner has long attempted to take charge of another “Rush Hour” movie, yet his efforts haven’t gained traction with multiple studios such as Paramount and Sony. However, it’s worth noting that while Jackie Chan and Chris Tucker have been mentioned in discussions about the project, neither actor currently holds an official role within it.

Jeremy Piven Wants To Make Rush Hour 4:

In the previous year, Jeremy Piven expressed his enthusiasm for the drama “Sweetwater” during an interview with ComicBook, and he also mentioned his desire to reprise his role in a potential fourth installment of “Rush Hour”.

“Piven expressed, ‘May it be so that I return to set alongside Jackie and Chris Tucker,’ he said, reminiscing about his days as a struggling actor in Chicago before ‘Entourage.’ He explained, ‘I’d take on roles like that, always prepared to improvise and jot down ideas. If the director didn’t call ‘cut,’ I’d keep going – that’s the essence of that part. It was a blast! Jackie Chan had no clue what I’d say next, and suddenly I’d start speaking nonsense. It made it into the movie, and it was one of the best times of my career. They each earned $20 million, while I received $270.'”
