Titled “Tip Toe,” the upcoming five-part series brings Davies back together with Quay Street Productions and Nicola Shindler, his previous collaborators on “Queer as Folk” and “It’s a Sin.
Peter Hoar, famed for his contributions to It’s a Sin, The Last of Us, and the forthcoming Doctor Who season, will also helm Tip Toe as its director.
In a familiar move, Davies is set to portray a variety of captivating tales on the screen once more. This particular work, titled Tip Toe, delves into the destructive elements affecting the LGBTQ+ community at present, scrutinizing the peril as bias starts re-emerging in our daily existence.

While Leo manages a bustling bar on Canal Street, Clive is an electrician with a pair of teenage lads under his roof. The upcoming series promises to offer a fascinating glimpse into their unique worlds.
However, the show delves into the consequences that arise when specific viewpoints escalate to extremes, as global tensions rise and speech transforms into potent ammunition. This escalation ultimately turns two previously peaceful neighbors into mortal foes.
Described as a “suburban thriller”, Tip Toe will “challenge everything we consider to be safe”.

This is a story I felt compelled to pen because the world seems increasingly bizarre, challenging, and ominous, and indeed, the battle is at hand.
In a recent chat, I’ve learned that Stephen Davis is cooking up something new for Channel 4 – inspired by none other than the vibrant heart of Manchester and its iconic Canal Street, the very location where “Queer as Folk” first took shape way back in 1999.
During a conversation on the Talk Art podcast in December, hosted by Russell Tovey and Robert Diament, Davies expressed that he had been spending quite a bit of time on Canal Street lately, as he felt it was high time for him to write about it once more.
When asked if any television concepts were brewing, Davies acknowledged that they are, expressing it as follows: “Indeed, given the increasing turmoil surrounding issues like transgender rights, LGBTQ+ rights, women’s rights, and so on.
It seems as if we’re all bickering among ourselves instead of focusing on our common adversary. Consequently, I’ve been devoting quite a bit of time there to gauge the atmosphere, and I find that things haven’t changed much from how they used to be.
Additionally, Nicola Shindler expressed her delight about collaborating with Russell once more on Channel 4. She’s thrilled to have the opportunity to share this significant tale we all eagerly await.
