In the interview, Coogler expressed his long-standing enthusiasm and eagerness to resume work on that topic. He went on to say that some of the episodes could potentially be incredibly terrifying if executed properly.
Coogler also singled out Gillian Anderson for high praise, describing her as “amazing” and expressing hope that everything goes smoothly for their collaboration. Previously, Anderson expressed her enthusiasm for the project in an interview with the TODAY show on April 3rd.
Currently, Chris Carter is being approached by Ryan Coogler, the talented director of “Black Panther”, to work on a potential reboot. In my opinion, this could be an ideal scenario for a reboot to occur, as I believe he’s quite a genius. There’s a possibility that it will happen, although my role in it is uncertain at this point. However, I don’t rule it out because I think he’s quite impressive, and if he does take on the project, I suspect it would be executed exceptionally well. I might even make a brief appearance for good measure.
Additionally, Chris Carter, the creator of “The X-Files,” commended Coogler’s work and signaled his approval for another individual to continue shaping his original concept.
In 2024, Carter told Inverse, “People often ask me, ‘Don’t you hold onto it tightly?’ But I reply, ‘I’m excited to see how someone else handles it.’ Regardless of who takes over, they have a challenging role ahead… Casting and mounting it are demanding tasks. All the hurdles I faced will be their challenges.
For nearly a decade, starting in the late 90s, the groundbreaking show known as “The X-Files” aired on Fox for nine seasons before concluding in May 2002. Over this period, it also inspired two films: one simply called “The X-Files,” released in 1998, and “The X-Files: I Want to Believe,” which came out a decade later. Interestingly, the first X-Files movie actually had a subtitle when it was shown in cinemas – “Fight the Future” – but it’s more of an extended episode of the series and is typically referred to as just “The X-Files” on the web.
The show made a comeback in 2016 for a revival and then again in 2018 for another season of revival, featuring the return of David Duchovny and Gillian Anderson. It appears there might be another reunion on the horizon for these two, although the details are yet to be finalized. Duchovny has expressed his continued affection for the series, though he slightly dampened the enthusiasm about a possible continuation in 2024.
I’ve never given it much thought before because for me, The X-Files is all about Chris Carter, myself, and Gillian. So, I haven’t explored other possibilities and I’m not sure if I will.
As Ryan Coogler dives back into the task of rejuvenating the series, we’re excited to observe if the director of ‘Sinners’ can move forward in resurrecting it while keeping the original pair engaged.
Enthusiasts have the opportunity to watch both the original run of “The X-Files” and its subsequent seasons via streaming on Hulu. As for the films, they can be rented from your preferred service provider. However, I strongly recommend catching the movie “Sinners” while it’s still playing in cinemas.
