Ryan Coogler expresses interest in including Denzel Washington in Black Panther 3. During a chat on the podcast 7PM in Brooklyn, Coogler addressed remarks Washington made during the Gladiator II press tour. Coogler disclosed that he would love to team up with the Academy Award-winning actor within the Marvel Cinematic Universe. Coogler spoke about his close personal ties with Washington, considering him as family, and expressing his longstanding desire to collaborate with him, feeling thrilled at the prospect of working together on this project.
Coogler stated, “There’s no fabrication in the world; Denzel is essentially family now… Ever since the beginning, I’ve been eager to collaborate with him. In my opinion, he’s the most outstanding actor currently alive, and his influence on our culture is indescribable. We’ve discussed this for quite some time… It wasn’t surprising when he brought it up, as it’s not untrue.
In November last year, Washington hinted at his involvement in future projects, revealing that Ryan Coogler had penned a part for him in Black Panther 3. After accidentally disclosing this information, he apologized to the director and has remained silent on the matter since. Previously, both Coogler and producer Nate Moore have expressed enthusiasm about Washington joining the cast of Black Panther 3, provided that the actor is willing. The character Washington might portray remains undisclosed.
At present, work on Black Panther 3 is underway, but it hasn’t been definitively scheduled for release by Marvel Studios. Director Ryan Coogler paused the project to concentrate on making his original film, Sinners, first. Now that Sinners has been finished, Coogler can return his focus to the Marvel Cinematic Universe (MCU). Additionally, there are hints suggesting that Black Panther 3 might not be released until after Avengers: Secret Wars.
It’s thrilling to learn that Ryan Coogler hasn’t shared any specific details about Denzel Washington’s role yet, but it’s clear that he plans to include the Academy Award winner in the Marvel Cinematic Universe (MCU). Given Washington’s exceptional acting abilities and versatility, he could convincingly portray a hero from Wakanda with nobility or an imposing villain. There are numerous characters from Marvel Comics that would suit Washington perfectly, so it will be intriguing to discover Coogler’s plans. However, considering Washington’s expressed intention to retire soon and his selectiveness about projects, it seems likely that his role in the MCU will be a one-time appearance. As a director that Washington is keen on working with, Coogler holds significant appeal for him.
It’s nearly certain that Chadwick Boseman will reprise his role as Black Panther in the third installment, but with Marvel reducing the number of movies and shows they release annually, it remains unclear when we might see him again in the Marvel Cinematic Universe (MCU). Disney has withdrawn three unnamed Marvel films from their upcoming releases, leaving fewer potential dates for Black Panther 3. At this point, it appears that the film may be scheduled for one of the MCU dates reserved by Disney in 2028, making it one of the earliest releases in the post-Multiverse Saga era.
