It’s been announced that Ryan Gosling will be venturing into a distant galaxy, as the Star Wars universe prepares for several upcoming films on the big screen.
According to reports, Gosling might collaborate with Shawn Levy, the director behind Deadpool and Wolverine, and Jonathan Tropper, who co-wrote The Adam Project, on an upcoming Star Wars film. This movie is said to have no connection to the Skywalker saga, but rather tell a self-contained story on its own.
Should the movie be produced, it would follow the release of Star Wars’ upcoming production, “The Mandalorian and Grogu,” scheduled for 22nd May 2026, after its appearance on the big screen.
Since the release of The Rise of Skywalker in 2019, there hasn’t been a new Star Wars film. Instead, various Disney Plus streaming series have kept the Star Wars universe alive.
It’s not yet clear when Levy’s movie will hit theaters, but there’s a Star Wars film scheduled by Disney for a cinema release on December 17th, 2027, without a title as of now.
Besides handling Deadpool and Wolverine, Levy is recognized for leading the Night at the Museum series, Free Guy, The Adam Project, and directing several Stranger Things episodes in an executive producer role.
Currently, Ryan Gosling is appearing in several films, including The Fall Guy, Barbie, and The Gray Man. He’s also garnered three Academy Award nominations, for his roles in Barbie, La La Land, and Half Nelson.
Regarding Star Wars, several additional movies are in the works, with directors such as Sharmeen Obaid-Chinoy, Dave Filoni, James Mangold, and Taika Waititi overseeing different projects at various stages.
Currently, Disney Plus is working on new seasons of two shows: Andor (season 2), which marks the end of its series, and Ahsoka (season 2) as well.
