Ryan Reynolds’ Deadpool Takes Shots at DC in Christmas Video With Lynda Carter

As a seasoned cinema enthusiast with a soft spot for superheroes and a heart full of empathy for those in need, I must say that Ryan Reynolds and Lynda Carter‘s collaboration to help sick kids through the SickKids Foundation is nothing short of heroic. It’s not every day we see Deadpool and Wonder Woman teaming up, especially when it comes to such a noble cause.

Ryan Reynolds and Lynda Carter are teaming up to unite Deadpool and Wonder Woman in a noble cause. Although it’s rare for Marvel and DC characters to collaborate, this time it’s for a heartwarming purpose. The SickKids Foundation, also known as The Hospital for Sick Children, has enlisted Reynolds once more for his sixth fundraising effort on behalf of ill children. This year, he’s bringing Carter’s Wonder Woman and a new character, Kidpool, along with Deadpool (the Merc With a Mouth) to spread some holiday joy. In the past, Ryan Reynolds reprised his role as Wade Wilson in Deadpool & Wolverine, with his daughter, Inez Reynolds, playing Kidpool.

In a charity video, Deadpool remarks, “Helping others is tiring,” as he begins. Then, curious about their destination, Kidpool inquires. To which Deadpool replies, “I had planned to eradicate childhood illnesses.” Hearing this, Kidpool misunderstands, so Deadpool clarifies they’re aiming to get rid of the sickness, not the kids, by inspiring donations. However, they need assistance for that, and since their content is rated R, they enlist Lynda Carter’s Wonder Woman for the task.

Lights fill the screen and Lynda Carter appears. “Aren’t you a wonderful woman,” Deadpool says while turning to look at the camera in a typical Fourth Wall-breaking moment. “We’re going to help eliminate sick kids by raising money for SickKids Hospital.” Deadpool and Kidpool suggest Carter can help by “doing the thing,” which is a reference to her signature Wonder Woman twirl. When she stops Carter finds herself dressed in a sweater that looks like gift wrap. “Who did this?” Carter asks. “The DC lawyers, I knew it,” Deadpool answers. The video ends with Deadpool, Kidpool, and Lynda Carter hopping in Santa’s sleigh.

On Christmas Eve, Ryan Reynolds and his wife Blake Lively have pledged to equally contribute to every donation made, with a maximum of $500,000 in total.
