After the sad passing of 10-year-old Bella Brave, formerly known as Isabella Thomson, the Deadpool actor expressed his grief over her death on social media the following day.
“Ryan posted on Instagram Stories on July 15th, expressing how Bella was both amusing and alluring to him. I cherished getting to know her, but now I’m devastated by the unfortunate news. Her quick humor and unyielding spirit left no room for disrespect, not even from me. My heartfelt sympathies go out to her loved ones and the dedicated team at @sickkidsvs who provided her with exceptional care.”
Kyla Thomson, Bella’s mother, shared information about her daughter’s death on social media on July 15. This announcement followed only a few days after Bella was put in a medically induced coma.

Seven months ago, during his work with The Hospital for Sick Children in Toronto, Ryan met Bella and wrote a heartfelt message to her nearly after their first encounter in December 2023.
Bella, known for sharing her experiences with Hirschsprung’s disease on her rise to fame (a condition that impacts the bowel and immune system), showed she was a great fit for Ryan’s witty humor when he gave her an unattractive Christmas sweater as a gift in a TikTok video of their exchange, shared by Bella’s mom.
After Ryan offered her the sweater, Bella quipped back, “I am not dying to wear that.”
I, as an avid gamer myself, had the pleasure of conversing with Ryan about our favorite video games. He’s a father of three wonderful kids – James, 9, Ines, 7, and Betty, 4, along with another bundle of joy on the way with Blake Lively. We discovered a shared interest in LOL dolls among us and his daughters.
A ten-year-old girl shared the intricacies of her past medical treatments, including her bowel transplant. She characterized this life-changing event as “unremarkable” or “so-so.”
