As a longtime fan of both superheroes and Ryan Reynolds, I can’t help but be excited about his latest venture into the world of animation with Mighty Mouse! Having grown up watching cartoons and appreciating the charm of characters like Mighty Mouse, it’s great to see such an iconic figure being revamped by someone as talented as Reynolds.
Again gracing the superhero sphere, Ryan Reynolds is no longer the wisecracking Deadpool this time around; instead, he’s diving into an animated adventure with Paramount Animation – partnering with his production company Maximum Effort – for a revamped version of Mighty Mouse! As reported by Variety, Matt Lieberman, who previously worked on the Reynolds-led film directed by Shawn Levy and also contributed to movies like The Christmas Chronicles, Scoob!, and The Addams Family, is penning the script for this upcoming big-screen Mighty Mouse project. With Reynolds’ charisma, there’s a strong chance we might see the long-awaited revival of Mighty Mouse come to life on the silver screen!
In 2024, the Marvel film featuring Deadpool and Wolverine stood out as the standout movie of the year, being the sole Marvel release that year. Not only did Ryan Reynolds share the spotlight with these iconic characters, but he also produced and starred in Paramount’s production titled “If“. Maximum Effort, Reynolds’ production company, extended its first-look agreement with Paramount in February, with this deal set to continue until 2026. Some of the upcoming projects from Maximum Effort for Paramount include a reunion comedy about a music group called “Boy Band“, an adaptation of John Scalzi’s popular science-fiction novel “Starter Villain“, and another book series adaptation titled “Eloise“.
Originating from Terrytoons Studio under the creative minds of Paul Terry and Izzy Klein, Mighty Mouse first appeared in the animated short film “The Mouse of Tomorrow” back in 1942. Over the years, he made numerous appearances in various shorts, but it was his own self-titled Saturday morning cartoon series that significantly boosted his popularity among children.
As a film enthusiast, I can’t help but reminisce about the iconic character Mighty Mouse, whose defining charm was undeniably its infectious theme song, “Here I Come to Save the Day” echoing through the years. Now, Paramount Animation and Ryan Reynolds are stepping up to the plate, aiming to breathe new life into this timeless concept.
Deadpool & Wolverine now available on Disney+
The iconic duo, Deadpool and Wolverine, made their official debut on Disney+ on November 12, and to mark the occasion, a fresh scene was unveiled. In this new scene for the premiere of Deadpool and Wolverine on Disney+, Deadpool is seen sitting on a couch with Blind Al, both of them apparently enjoying the show together. Blind Al playfully reaches into the popcorn bucket belonging to Wolverine, which was resting in Deadpool’s lap. This move, as one might expect, deviates from the more family-friendly content typically found on Disney’s streaming service. Deadpool then looks slyly at Blind Al and says, “Welcome to Disney+.
You’ll find Deadpool in the Marvel-themed area of Disney California Adventure Park at Disneyland Resort, specifically Avengers Campus, during the Story Time with Deadpool Holiday Special. In this 10-minute performance, Deadpool is brimming with holiday spirit and ready to share some fresh, unique, festive tales that are sure to bring a smile to your face. The stories will be filled with Deadpool’s signature wit, charm, and holiday cheer.
During the magical holiday season from November 15, 2024, to January 6, 2025, I’m thrilled to be part of the unparalleled live entertainment experience that is only available at Disney California Adventure Park in Anaheim, CA, within the enchanting Disneyland Resort.
