Ryan Reynolds is slated to reprise his role as Deadpool in the Marvel Cinematic Universe, though this time he might have a less central role. According to The Hollywood Reporter, Reynolds is penning an ensemble Marvel movie featuring Deadpool and X-Men characters. However, the project isn’t officially pitched to Marvel Studios yet since Reynolds is still developing ideas for it. Though we don’t know if Deadpool will appear in the Avengers films, there’s a chance we might see some familiar X-Men characters like Channing Tatum’s Gambit or Hugh Jackman’s Wolverine again on the big screen.
Concerning the specifics about the project, it’s been hinted that Deadpool will play a secondary role, while other X-Men characters are expected to take center stage in the film. Ryan Reynolds is presently engaged in revising the script for the movie “Boy Band“, which could potentially feature Hugh Jackman. At the moment, his main focus is on this project, although he’s considering being more choosy about his future roles. Reynolds hasn’t yet confirmed if he’s involved with the project, nor has it been decided whether Deadpool & Wolverine‘s director Shawn Levy will return as director. A minor rumor circulates that Reynolds may have discussed the possibility of Cynthia Erivo, known for her role in “Wicked“, portraying Storm in the MCU, during the National Board of Review last January. As ever, this information should be viewed with a degree of skepticism.
Ryan Reynolds has shown enthusiasm about rejoining the Marvel Cinematic Universe, given his significant role in box office hits like Deadpool and Wolverine, which amassed over a billion dollars globally during the previous summer. Deadpool, a character known for his adaptability in Hollywood, first appeared on the big screen in 2009’s X-Men Origins: Wolverine, played by Reynolds. In an effort to reimagine the profane assassin, Reynolds collaborated with Tim Miller at 20th Century Fox to debut Deadpool in 2016. The film was both critically acclaimed and commercially successful, leading to a follow-up release in 2018 that featured Josh Brolin as Cable and Zazie Beetz as Domino.
Over the past summer, the Marvel Cinematic Universe welcomed Deadpool, marking the reappearance of Hugh Jackman as Wolverine and teaming them up after a long decade. The integration of Fox’s X-Men franchise following Disney’s acquisition, has gradually seen characters from that series joining the Marvel Studios universe. In the upcoming Avengers: Doomsday, we’ll see the introduction of Professor X (Patrick Stewart), Magneto (Ian McKellen), Beast (Kelsey Grammer), Cyclops (James Marsden), and Nightcrawler (Alan Cumming). It’s thrilling to speculate which actors might appear in the next installment of the Deadpool series.
Channing Tatum will reprise his role as Gambit in the movie “Doomsday,” a character initially seen in “Deadpool & Wolverine.” It’s uncertain if he’ll team up with Deadpool again, but given that many other characters might also be invited to join Reynold’s upcoming Marvel production, it’s certainly possible.
