S.T.A.L.K.E.R. 2 developers reveal massive plans for 2025

As a tech enthusiast with over two decades of gaming under my belt, S.T.A.L.K.E.R. 2: Heart of Chornobyl has been nothing short of a revelation. I’ve played my fair share of open-world games, but the sheer immersion and attention to detail in this title is unparalleled. The fact that GSC Game World, despite the turmoil they faced, managed to deliver such a masterpiece is truly commendable.

Continued S.T.A.L.K.E.R. 2: Heart of Chornobyl support

In the coming year, GSC Game World laid out the following for their latest release:

  • We will continue to update S.T.A.L.K.E.R. 2 in the upcoming year.
  • We will be ready to share the content roadmap for the game at the beginning of 2025.

Following the release of the 1.1 patch with over 1,800 fixes, I’m thrilled that they’ve pledged ongoing support for S.T.A.L.K.E.R 2. While it’s typical for successful games, this level of commitment isn’t always the norm for AA studios. Fans often find themselves on their own once a certain level of fixes is applied to the game.

Despite their brief mention of that conventional notion, I can’t help but feel they could delve deeper into it. Given their financial success preceding the anticipated, yet disputed PlayStation 5 edition, it’s intriguing to imagine what more they could achieve. For instance, consider Hunt: Showdown – wouldn’t a PvPvE mode focusing on horror be an exciting development?

If you haven’t heard yet, Hunt: Showdown is a unique blend of player-versus-player (PvP) and player-versus-environment (PvE) gameplay, where players compete to claim monster contracts. Each map contains one or two contracts that players must complete by eliminating the monsters and then safely extracting, earning experience, money, and loot in return. For my personal preference, it’s the top extraction shooter currently available, and I eagerly anticipate something similar for S.T.A.L.K.E.R. 2.

Single-player is a different story. The obvious answer to that is to extend the map, add new story missions, and a bunch more weapons. Who says the story has to end where it does? Story content could very well be added prior to the endgame, or, without giving away any potential spoilers, we could see an entirely new storyline emerge.

Regardless of your preferences, rest assured that there will be additional content for S.T.A.L.K.E.R. 2. All you have to do is exhibit some patience as GSC Game World continues to work on refining the game further.

S.T.A.L.K.E.R. Legends of the Zone Trilogy getting next-gen patch

Good news for enthusiasts of the original games! GSC Game World has revealed they’re developing an update specifically for next-generation consoles on the trilogy. What’s even more exciting is that the PC version fans won’t be left behind either, as they too will receive updates.

  • The next-gen patch for the console versions of S.T.A.L.K.E.R.: Legends of the Zone Trilogy will be released next year. We know you’ve asked us to update the PC versions of the original S.T.A.L.K.E.R. games, and we also plan to do that. Keep an eye on our social media so you don’t miss the exact dates.

No hate, but I’m one of those people who has somehow managed to go their whole life without playing any other S.T.A.L.K.E.R. game. I even have some copies I don’t even remember buying in my Steam library that have gone unplayed since they arrived. You can tell I’m a true Steam gamer. Once this update drops, I promise to pick them up and play as much as my schedule allows. I already can’t keep my hands off S.T.A.L.K.E.R. 2, so I know I’m in for a treat once the updates arrive.
