S.T.A.L.K.E.R. 2: Heart of Chornobyl Dev Says There Are No Current Plans for a PS5 Port

As an ardent gamer with decades of gaming under my belt, I must admit that the latest addition to my collection, S.T.A.L.K.E.R. 2: Heart of Chornobyl, has truly left me spellbound. This game is a testament to the power of storytelling and immersion in an open-world setting. However, as a PlayStation gamer, I find myself in a peculiar predicament – I’m forced to watch from the sidelines, much like a spectator at a grand event I can’t participate in.

Despite some initial technical problems upon release, S.T.A.L.K.E.R. 2: Heart of Chornobyl is shaping up to be one of the standout games of the year and possibly for a while, with PlayStation players eagerly anticipating its arrival, though it’s hard to predict exactly when they might get their hands on the game.

As a devoted gamer, I’m thrilled about the first-person shooter released last month, exclusively on Xbox consoles. Currently, the creators, GSC Game World, aren’t planning to bring this game to PS5. In an interview with Tech4Gamers, the game director, Ievgen Grygorovych, mentioned that their primary focus right now is providing post-launch support for the PC and Xbox versions of this chilling shooter.

He mentioned that their primary focus has been, and continues to be, on creating (and subsequently maintaining) the PC and Xbox Series X/S editions.

It’s reasonable to think that S.T.A.L.K.E.R. 2 might eventually come out for the PS5, but it’s unclear when that will happen. In 2021, leaked papers hinted at a three-month Xbox exclusivity period for this game, but just because such an exclusivity window exists doesn’t automatically mean a PS5 version will follow immediately after it ends.

Since its debut, GSC Game World has rolled out several updates for the game S.T.A.L.K.E.R. 2, and there’s more to come. Additionally, they are developing two expansion packs, with specifics about post-launch assistance set to be revealed in early 2025.

You can now play S.T.A.L.K.E.R. 2: Heart of Chernobyl on Xbox Series X/S and personal computers. Check out our review of the game by clicking here.
