Sabrina Carpenter teases brand new music video with Wednesday star Jenna Ortega

As a seasoned cinema enthusiast with a penchant for dark comedies and a soft spot for cult classics, I am genuinely intrigued by Sabrina Carpenter‘s upcoming music video for ‘Taste’. The teaser has an undeniable Death Becomes Her vibe, and the casting of Jenna Ortega, who’s been slaying it in modern horror icons like Wednesday, Scream, You, and The Babysitter: Killer Queen, adds fuel to this theory.

Sabrina Carpenter recently gave fans a sneak peek at the music video for her song “Taste,” featuring actress Jenna Ortega from the show “Wednesday.”

On a whim, I stumbled upon a brief, 16-second clip shared on social media yesterday. In it, I saw myself clutching a knife and venturing into a house, ascending the stairway. Once upstairs, there was Ortega, standing in a shower with another man.

Carpenter opens the shower curtain and lunges at Ortega as we see the fear in her eyes.

As a movie buff, let me put it this way: In the scene that unfolds, the enchanting voice of the Please Please Please singer is heard, and she’s seen in close-up. She’s not using a microphone, no, she’s using a kitchen knife’s edge to apply her lipstick, all while singing into her reflection in the mirror. And as she sings, “Oh, I’ll leave quite an impression,” you can almost feel the impact of her words resonating through the room.

Taste! Coming this Friday 💋

In the realm of online fandom, there’s been a flurry of speculation suggesting that my latest music video draws inspiration from the iconic 1992 film, Death Becomes Her. It seems that in this creation, I and my collaborator have assumed roles reminiscent of Goldie Hawn and Meryl Streep.

Based on the ominous and amusing tone suggested in the trailer and the fact that renowned horror actor Ortega, known for roles in Scream, Wednesday, You, and The Babysitter: Killer Queen, is involved, it appears quite plausible that the story will indeed follow a horror theme. However, this hasn’t been officially verified yet.

Carpenter’s third single from their sixth studio album titled “Taste” will drop along with its accompanying music video on Friday, August 23rd.

During a recent chat with Paper magazine, the carpenter disclosed fragments of the lyrics for the song “Taste”. He mentioned that certain phrases include “I’ve been known to share” and also hinted at “You’ll simply need to sample me when he’s kissing you.”

As for her creative process when composing a song, she mentioned, “I can write any song. Not necessarily release them all, but I’ll write them. My past relationship struggles, which many people who know me or think they know me are aware of, serve as inspiration for my songs.”
