Sadie Robertson Shares Heartbreaking Memories of Phil Robertson’s Last Days

Sadie Robertson’s final moments with her grandfather will always stay with her.

After the passing away of Phil Robertson, the patriarch from Duck Dynasty, at the age of 79 (as confirmed by his family on May 25, five months after he announced his Alzheimer’s diagnosis), Sadie gave a touching glimpse into their final moments spent together.

In her Instagram tribute, the 27-year-old reminisced about her grandfather’s faith by saying, “Grandpa Phil’s final words to me were ‘Onward with all our strength!’ So be it!

In her recent post, Sadie showcased a delightful series of pictures spanning years with her grandfather, one depicting Phil delivering a speech at her wedding to husband Christian Huff, and another capturing the family moment where she, Christian, and their two daughters, Honey James Huff, 4, and Haven Belle Huff, 2, stand together with Phil and his wife Kay Robertson.

When sharing the news of Phil’s demise, his family conveyed their appreciation for the influence he exerted throughout his life as a reality television personality.

Korie Robertson, Phil’s daughter-in-law who is wedded to his son Willie Robertson, expressed her gratitude on Facebook for the outpouring of love and prayers from countless individuals whose lives were touched by Phil’s life. Phil was saved by grace, demonstrated a courageous faith, and shared the wonderful news of Jesus with all who listened. She stated that they are thankful for his earthly life and will carry on his legacy of loving God and others until they meet him again.

She went on to say, “Many of you hold him dear and have experienced the influence of his life. At present, we’re holding a private ceremony; however, we will announce details shortly for a public event honoring his life.

Five months ago, news of Phil’s passing emerged, following the revelation by his son, Jase Robertson, that Phil – a key figure in Duck Dynasty – had been diagnosed with Alzheimer’s disease earlier on.

He mentioned on the “Unashamed with the Robertson Family” podcast that, as per the doctors, they are confident he is suffering from a type of systemic blood disorder, which is rapidly progressing and causing issues throughout his body.

Jase noted at the time that his father was “not doing well” and was “really struggling.”

Although his father’s health was deteriorating, Jase affirmed last month that he and the entire family – including his brothers Alan Robertson and Jep Robertson – were making a conscious effort to stick together.

During his podcast on April 2nd, he clarified that they’re giving their utmost effort. He added that this seems to be the usual approach.

As a lifestyle expert, I’d put it this way: In the year 2020, I, much like Phil Robertson of Duck Dynasty fame, uncovered a surprising truth about my past – a daughter named Phyllis whom I had fathered from a long-forgotten affair. This revelation prompted me to seek out and reconnect with this previously unknown part of my family, which led us to shared experiences such as going duck hunting together.

Phyllis expressed gratitude on Instagram last November, saying she was thankful that God had reunited them after so many years. She believes His timing is impeccable, and each day and fresh encounter is a precious gift.

Phyllis labeled this January 2021 photo as the end of her first duck hunting season with a successful hunt. A year ago, this same day marked the start of my real father-daughter relationship, once paternity tests confirmed it to be true. Indeed, there have been highs and lows in this unexpected journey. However, we believe that everything works together for good for those who love God and are part of His plan – Romans 8:28. I’m deeply grateful that both this day and the one-year anniversary turned out positively.

In 2021, Phil and his wife, affectionately known as “Miss Kay” Robertson, extended an invitation to Phyllis and her spouse, for them to join their family in celebrating Easter. This gathering would also include Phil’s brother, Si Robertson, as part of the festivities.

Phil taught Phyllis how to make mayhaw jelly in May 2021.

Phyllis celebrated her first Father’s Day with Phil in 2021.

She posted on Instagram that her father showed her how to prepare a tasty crawfish gratin dish,” she wrote. “It was an unforgettable Father’s Day – the very first one we celebrated together.

Phyllis celebrated Christmas 2021 with Phil, Miss Kay, their children Al, Jase, Willie, and Jep (the Robertsons) as part of the festivities.

The Robertson family went duck hunting in November 2022.

2022-23 duck hunting season has come to an end for Phyllis, who traveled from NE Louisiana to SE Kansas. She cherished the time spent with her father, family, and friends, engaging in deep conversations on faith and marveling at nature’s beauty. During this period, she honed some new skills, contributed to a missions fundraiser, and spread the word about God. Not to mention, they bagged and organized a fair share of waterfowl! All in all, it was an extremely productive and fulfilling season for her.

In April 2023, Phil expressed his warm wishes for a happy and joyful Easter celebration on Instagram. He conveyed his hope that everyone would experience the miracle of resurrection, feel the joy that comes with faith in Jesus, and embrace the anticipation of what’s to come. Furthermore, he wished that their own story – a story filled with light and hope found in the living Savior – becomes your story as well. Happy Easter from Phil’s family to yours!
