This week, Sadie Sink is making waves across various entertainment news platforms, as it has been confirmed that the talented actress from Stranger Things will be part of Marvel Cinematic Universe in Spider-Man 4. However, this isn’t her only movie venture on the horizon.
The upcoming musical set in a post-apocalyptic world titled O’Dessa, created and helmed by Geremy Jasper (known for Patti Cake$), is getting ready to premiere on Disney Plus next Thursday (20th March). It will make its first appearance at SXSW this week before its release.
In the movie, I found myself in the starring role, portraying Sink – an orphaned farm girl navigating a post-apocalyptic world. My cherished guitar had been snatched by bandits, leading me on a journey across this desolate landscape. Interestingly, when I first auditioned, I was under the impression that I wasn’t even in contention for the part.

During our video conference, neither O’Dessa nor his movie Patti Cake$ were mentioned. Despite my interest and fondness for both, it seemed unlikely that I was being considered for a role since he didn’t discuss it during the meeting.
Later on, she chose to act independently by recording a tape of herself singing a song from the movie and sending it to Jasper.
She mentioned that she recently recorded a video of herself singing a song from the film titled “You’re the One.” She admittedly did her best and submitted it.
Initially, I shrugged it off, thinking, “Well, let’s wait and see.” But boy, did it grab my attention! From that moment on, I found myself hooked, and the movie concluded, leaving me with a sense of fulfillment.
As for himself, Jasper conceded that Sink was justified in believing that she hadn’t been an early contender for the role at first – this was due to his belief that she would already be occupied with shooting Stranger Things.
He expressed that he felt remarkably fortunate with Sadie, stating, “I hadn’t expected her to be a contender, given she was in the midst of filming Stranger Things, and I knew those productions can take a while. Frankly, I didn’t want to wait two years for her availability, so I just didn’t consider it!
But it appears as if the aforementioned video Sink sent worked pretty instantly on the director.
He said, “I received a small video in the post, opened it up, and there was only Sadie playing the guitar and singing one of her songs.
After about four years of work, it suddenly felt as if the project had culminated, and there it was – O’Dessa, the movie.
In the brief video she shared, it was evident beyond doubt that she would turn out to be O’Dessa.
