Raised in North Shields, Fender draws inspiration from his blue-collar upbringing for both his lyrics and music, frequently offering insights into the current condition of the United Kingdom.

Initially playing at local bars, Fender has since filled arenas and will make his first appearance on the Pyramid Stage at the Glastonbury Festival.

1) In its debut week, Hypersonic Missiles soared to the top of the UK music sales charts, shifting an impressive 41,000 copies. The album then astoundingly remained in the Top 100 for a staggering 124 weeks.

The album was produced in a DIY recording studio located at Fender’s residence in North Shields, eventually earning platinum certification in the UK by selling approximately 300,000 copies.

2021 saw “Seventeen Going Under” climb to the top of several prestigious album lists, including NME’s number one spot on their 50 Best Albums of 2021, ninth place on The Independent’s list, and eleventh position on The Guardian’s rankings. This remarkable album was further recognized with a nomination for the 2022 Mercury Music Prize and took home an Ivor Novello Award in the category of Best Song Musically and Lyrically, as well as two accolades at that year’s NME Awards.

Since its release, the album has earned a platinum certification in the UK following its ascent to the top spot on the Official UK Charts. Moreover, it stayed within the Top 100 charts for an impressive 97 weeks, with 53 of those weeks spent within the Top 40.

Prior to releasing their new album, Fender debuted the first single titled “People Watching” in November 2024. This song was dedicated to the late Annie Orwin, a former actress from Byker Grove, who had been like a second mother to him.

In December 2024, he announced he would be heading out on an arena tour in 2025.
