With each new release, such as Control 2, Alan Wake 2, and their respective expansions, it feels like stepping into a rich, interwoven tapestry of intrigue. It’s not just games anymore; they’re immersive experiences that I can’t help but get lost in.
The recent interview with creative director and writer Sam Lake only further fueled my excitement for the RCU’s future. When he mentioned that we are “just getting started” and it’s “too early to talk about an endgame,” I couldn’t help but feel like a kid on Christmas Eve, eagerly awaiting the morning’s unwrapping.
What intrigues me most is Remedy’s commitment to creating standalone games that also offer rich lore for fans of the universe to explore. It’s like having the best of both worlds: I can enjoy each game on its own merits, while still diving deeper into the shared universe if I so choose.
Now, if only they could do something about my ever-growing backlog… I wonder if they’ll release a time-travel expansion that lets me play through everything at once! And hey, maybe they can throw in a laundry feature too; I could use some help with that!

When questioned about a possible climax in the ongoing story of the Remedy Connected Universe, Lake responded by saying that the shared universe is currently in its infancy and it’s premature at this point to discuss potential endings.
He mentioned, “It seems we’re just beginning our journey, which is why discussing an end point feels premature to me. I find it fascinating to connect the dots, to delve deeper into the lore, and explore new possibilities. This feels like a chance to explore the threads we’ve laid down, expand upon them, and consider various theories. It’s incredibly exciting.
As per Lake’s statement, the objective for Remedy is to design each game in such a way that it appears self-sufficient, yet offers abundant content and extended backstory for enthusiasts of the broader universe to explore deeply.
According to Lake, each game should be enjoyable individually and self-sufficient. However, for those who have played previous Remedy games, there will be plenty of content for them to explore within the expanding universe story. Furthermore, Lake expresses optimism that as they develop more games, newcomers playing their first Remedy game can delve further into the universe and potentially discover other games in the series as well.
Right now, Remedy Entertainment is developing “Control 2” as their main project, but they are also creating a multiplayer spinoff titled “FBC: Firebreak”. Additionally, they are remaking both “Max Payne 1 and 2”, though it seems less likely that these will be part of the Remedy Connected Universe.
