As a film enthusiast with a penchant for courtroom dramas and a soft spot for Sam Neill’s acting prowess, I eagerly anticipate the second season of The Twelve. Having delved into the intricacies of various legal narratives over the years, I can confidently say that this series stands out due to its compelling storytelling and relatable characters.
In the upcoming second season of courtroom drama The Twelve, airing on ITVX this coming Thursday (August 15th), you’ll once again see Sam Neill reprising his role as Brett Colby.
In the latest series, featuring actors like Frances O’Connor, Tasma Walton, and Kris McQuade, the story follows Brett as he takes on a challenging murder case, offering a perspective from the jury box where 12 everyday individuals play a crucial role.
The story revolves around the mysterious demise of a well-known community figure who was both a landowner and a matriarch in town. Two former lovers find themselves implicated in this alleged murder case, with attorney Brett taking up the defense for one of them.
But was Bernice the victim of a crime of passion, a workplace accident or just misfortune?
In a recent chat, Neill shared his thoughts on how the second season stacks up against the first. He believes that the narrative is “even more powerful” compared to what was presented in season 1.
He said: “I think it is an even stronger story than last time, very intriguing indeed. With many twists and turns and surprises. It will keep you guessing until the end.
As a long-time fan of gripping storytelling, I must say that this show is truly captivating. With its blend of relatable moments and unexpected twists, it has a way of drawing you in and keeping you hooked. At times, it can be quite dark, but there are also moments of levity that provide a welcome contrast. The characters are richly developed and the performances are top-notch, making each scene feel real and immersive. I’ve found myself binge-watching multiple episodes in one sitting because I simply can’t stop watching. If you’re looking for a show that will keep you guessing and leave you feeling emotionally invested, this is definitely worth checking out.
In the second round, I find myself departing from the bustling city of Sydney, instead finding myself in the peaceful, rural town of Tunkwel.
Neill pointed out that the narrative presents a unique ambiance to the season, as he clarified: “The setting is a tight-knit town where people seem to know each other’s affairs, though it appears so. However, it’s important to remember that everyone hides secrets and often tells untruths.”
Neill discussed the location of his character Brett in the upcoming season and the relationship between Brett and Meredith, the latest character introduced by O’Connor.
Each year, Colby spends a month or more working without charge (pro bono) on the circuit. This demonstrates his generous nature.
“However, it’s worth noting that he might have been involved in a long-term relationship, around seven years, with Meredith Nelson-Moore, who is married to someone else. This information could spark varying opinions among people.”
The Twelve season 2 will be available to stream in full on ITVX from Thursday 15th August 2024.
