Sam Wilson and Red Hulk Collide in Captain America Series Ahead of Brave New World

As a seasoned gamer and comic book enthusiast with over two decades of immersion in the Marvel universe, I must say that the announcement of “Sam Wilson: Captain America” has me positively thrilled! The prospect of seeing Sam Wilson take center stage as our beloved hero is not only long-awaited but also incredibly promising.

In the upcoming Marvel series, the principal figures from “Captain America: Bold New World” movie are set to take center stage before the film premieres next year. The marketing strategy for the fourth Captain America film has primarily focused on Sam Wilson, who is set to replace Steve Rogers as Captain America in the Marvel Universe, and General Thaddeus “Thunderbolt” Ross, also known as Red Hulk. Given that “Captain America: Bold New World” is upcoming, it’s no surprise that Marvel would introduce a comic featuring Sam Wilson’s Captain America. It seems this is indeed the plan, with Red Hulk and other film characters expected to make cameos as well.

I was thrilled when Marvel announced the upcoming limited series, “Sam Wilson: Captain America,” written by Greg Pak (“Star Wars: Darth Vader”) and Evan Narcisse (“Wakanda”), with art by Eder Messias (“Phases of Moon Knight”). Similar to “Captain America: Brave New World,” this series finds me, Sam Wilson, facing off against Red Hulk in a high-stakes spy thriller. In the story, I’ll discover a sinister plot masquerading as a cutting-edge tech firm, only to find that Red Hulk is at the helm of its security operations. The cover by Taurin Clarke hints that other heroes will join the action, including Isaiah Bradley, Patriot (Eli Bradley), War Machine, and Storm. I can’t wait to see how this unfolds!

Sam Wilson: Captain America creators share excitement for Marvel series

Collaborating with Evan on this book has been a sheer delight. We’ve exchanged countless hours discussing grand concepts, completing each other’s thoughts, and bursting into laughter over the tale we’re crafting together. The manuscripts coming from Eder have left me utterly astounded,” Pak expressed joyfully.

Narcisse stated that this will be an exciting, swift, action-packed journey with a thoughtful examination of being left behind by the American Dream. Frankly, I don’t think Sam has ever experienced skies as thrilling as these.

Narcisse shared his views on Sam Wilson’s character: “One fantastic aspect of Sam Wilson is that he skillfully balances being an ordinary person with having superhero qualities, much like Marvel characters do. The heart of ‘Better Angels’ will delve into how he manages this balance and how he, along with others, are altering the symbolism of the Captain America legacy in a unique way.

“We’re really going all out to share a story that has significance, one that delves into the unique experience of a Black social worker from Harlem becoming a superhero in the style of Marvel espionage and sci-fi. Pak, the author, is particularly fond of this book because it combines realistic characters like Sam’s chatty cousin Billie, whom he adores, with extraordinary skybound adventures that you’ve never witnessed before! Be prepared for a big surprise – don’t want you to miss out on it!

What is Sam Wilson: Captain America about?

At Isaiah Bradley’s birthday celebration, Captain America learns about a seemingly fantastic business proposal – floating platforms high above ground, offering land grants for the disadvantaged to cultivate their own farms. However, once Sam uncovers the organization’s sinister side, he’ll find himself facing off against Red Hulk, the head of its security!
