Samurai Shodown Action RPG, New Art of Fighting Game in Development at SNK

As a long-time fan of SNK and their iconic fighting games, I was absolutely thrilled to see the latest announcements from the company during Evo. The excitement was palpable as they shared updates on “Fatal Fury: City of the Wolves,” new DLC for “The King of Fighters 15,” and even a surprise release of “SNK vs. Capcom: SVC Chaos.” But what really got my heart racing was the news of two brand new projects in development – a new entry in the “Art of Fighting” franchise and an action RPG spinoff for “Samurai Shodown.”

At EVO, SNK had a lot to discuss, including introducing a new fighter for “Fatal Fury: City of the Wolves,” revealing DLC for “The King of Fighters 15,” and surprising attendees with the release of “SNK vs. Capcom: SVC Chaos.” Notably, SNK has even more projects in development currently.

At Evo’s SNK showcase (as reported by Gematsu), producer Joshua Weatherford unveiled two upcoming SNK projects. The first is a new installment in the “Art of Fighting” series, set in the same universe as “Fatal Fury,” and last saw a release in 1996. The second is an action RPG spin-off within the “Samurai Shodown” fighting franchise, which Weatherford teased would offer “plenty of surprises.”

According to Weatherford’s statement, SNK is currently hiring team members for both projects. Consequently, it can be inferred that these projects are still in their initial stages. As a result, we may not have any substantial updates or visible progress on either project for some time.

“For those who enjoy these franchise projects and are on the hunt for new employment opportunities, consider submitting your applications. Our team is expanding and we’re eagerly seeking talented individuals to contribute to the creation of these exciting games.”
