However, she felt sad because they wouldn’t be around anymore. Despite this, she believes the reasons behind their separation were entirely justifiable, as she has since spoken to both Ryan and Peter.
14-year-old Saoirse clarified that upheavals during casting are fairly typical within the film industry, implying that the change wasn’t intended as a personal criticism of Ryan.

In the end, Mark, who has children Ella (21 years old), Michael (18 years old), Brendan (16 years old), and Grace (14 years old) with his wife Rhea Durham, brought authentic real-life fatherly experience to the character of Susie’s father in the movie, which Ryan Gosling lacked at that time.
