As I peruse through these delightful images of Her Majesty Queen Elizabeth II and her beloved corgis, I find myself reminiscing about my own experiences with canines throughout the years. While I may not have had the pleasure of sharing a leash with one of these regal creatures, I’ve certainly spent my fair share of time in the company of man’s best friend – be it the corgi or otherwise.
Queen Elizabeth II‘s pups deserve a round of ap-paws.
Approximately two years after the monarch passed away at age 96 in September 2022, her former daughter-in-law, Sarah Ferguson, has recently posted a heartwarming image of the Queen’s cherished corgis, Sandy and Muick.
On August 26th, I took to Instagram to express my heartfelt wishes for a Happy #InternationalDogDay, not just for me, but for all the wonderful furry friends out there. After all, the boundless love, unwavering loyalty, and pure joy these four-legged companions bring into our lives is truly priceless! So, on this special day, Sandy and Muick will be receiving an extra special treat to celebrate!
Sarah has been co-looking after the renowned corgis with her former spouse, Prince Andrew, for the last two years. She has not hesitated to express their affection for them and even posted an update last year on the anniversary of Queen Elizabeth’s demise to inform everyone about their well-being.
“A year later, we honor not just the sorrow of losing her, but also the joyful moments we spent with our beloved late Queen,” she penned earlier. “I’m pleased to share that Sandy and Muick, under my care, are doing exceptionally well.”
The original owners of the two Welsh Corgis were Andrew and his mother, who is said to have owned more than 30 corgis throughout her 70-year reign. These dogs always felt like part of the family, and after Queen Elizabeth’s passing, Sandy and Muick were seen waiting for her coffin at Windsor Castle during her state funeral.
Furthermore, similar to previous statements made by the Duchess of York (mother of Princess Beatrice, age 36, and Princess Eugenie, age 34, both her daughters with Andrew), it’s worth noting that they have been flourishing well.
She shared with TopMob News in March 2023 that she finds them extraordinary and hilarious. She also mentioned, without a doubt, that when they’re playfully leaping around, it appears to her that they are observing her.
She remarked, “I believe that’s my assumption. Squirrels aren’t visible, yet they seem to be barking, suggesting it could possibly be her.”

The Queen’s corgis enjoy playing with Sarah Ferguson, Duchess of York. These dogs were initially given as a gift by her former husband, Prince Andrew, Duke of York, to the monarch. Following the monarch’s passing, both Prince Andrew and Sarah, who reside together, took care of them.
After a state funeral on September 8, 2022, Sandy and Muick, the Queen’s remaining corgis, are waiting for her coffin to arrive at Windsor Castle, where she will be laid to rest, as her final resting place.
During a brief respite, the Queen gently strokes her dorgi named Candy, as she contemplates a showcase of mementos commemorating her Golden and Platinum Jubilees, situated within the Oak Room at Windsor Castle in February 2022.
Among her final four pets, one dog had passed away several months prior to the Queen’s death at the age of 96 on September 8, 2022, according to various sources. The surviving corgis, Muick and Sandy, moved in with her son Prince Andrew, his ex-wife Sarah Ferguson (Duchess of York), and a cocker spaniel named Lissy following the Queen’s passing.
