Sarah Hadland’s Strictly Quickstep is “highest ever” for week 1

I must say, Sarah Hadland’s debut on Strictly Come Dancing has left me utterly spellbound! Her Quickstep with Vito Coppola was nothing short of extraordinary and it’s safe to say they set the bar incredibly high for this year’s competition.

On the debut night of Strictly Come Dancing, there’s usually some exceptional performances – and Sarah Hadland has truly kicked off the contest in style!

In an impressive display, the actress danced the Quickstep with her professional partner Vito Coppola, using Dolly Parton’s 9 to 5 as their rhythm. This performance not only had the audience dancing along and the judges showering them with compliments, but it also set a new record for the highest scoring Quickstep in week 1 of the show.

Craig Revel Horwood praised the performance by saying it was “outstanding,” while Motsi Mabuse commented on its strong start: “Indeed, this year is off to an amazing beginning! The Quickstep was brisk, rhythmic, showed excellent partnership, and timing. Well done!

Shirley Ballas added: “Entertaining, great footwork, just love this pairing!”

Tess Daly looked at Hadland and remarked, “That was quite a beginning,” before sending them away to learn their ratings. Back with the other celebrities and Claudia Winkleman, Hadland inquired, “What’s happening here?

I can’t help but express my admiration: “It seems you were extraordinary. Others have praised you as such, and so do I. You truly are fantastic.

After that, it was time for the long-awaited scores. Both contestants were thrilled as they received eights from Craig and Motsi, but only sevens from Shirley and Anton Du Beke. With a combined total of 30 points, Winkleman informed Hadland about something she had in store for her immediately.

“That is the highest ever Quickstep in week 1, it is. True,” she said.

Since joining the Strictly process, Hadland has experienced a whirlwind of feelings. She confided to TopMob magazine that she even shed tears upon seeing her dance costume for the first time.

She shared: “I was simply astounded! To be honest, I couldn’t help but tear up as soon as I donned my costume for the first time, because it didn’t quite feel like me yet.

The first time I laid eyes on it, it appeared as three small pieces of purple Lycra and was held together with six safety pins. My initial thought was, “This is quite simple.” I found myself wondering, “How will they elevate or dress it up?

She added: “Interestingly, I was speaking as they were finishing with the fitting, and when I turned to see myself, it was quite a surprising moment since I had never worn anything so stunning before. It truly took me aback.

“I wasn’t expecting it. I just burst into tears. I was like, ‘This is so beautiful.’”
