Todd Chrisley put in work on the inside.
Following the release of the star of “Chrisley Knows Best” and his wife Julie Chrisley, who were granted clemency by then-President Donald Trump, Savannah Chrisley announced that her father had accumulated profits over a period of approximately 28 months.
In the Instagram video he posted on May 28, he instructed his daughter, “Squeeze this muscle,” to which she candidly confessed, “Let me be honest with you all, it’s challenging.
She emphasized in the video caption, “@toddchrisley is JACKED.”
Without a doubt, Todd continues to be dramatic as ever in performances. Furthermore, Savannah mentioned that her father found it difficult to tolerate the odor after she felt sick in the car, describing his reaction as “he started spraying perfume excessively everywhere.
On my way back home with a bag of groceries,” I say, hiding my discomfort as I feel quite queasy during this ride.
In the background, Todd was groaning, to which Savannah replied, “Todd over here being dramatic.”
Or is he? As he quipped, “I can smell it. I didn’t have to deal with this in prison.”
All’s well that ends well, though. The following day, Todd and Julie finally reunited.
On May 29th, Savannah shared a post featuring two sets of legs. One pair seemed to be Todd’s, dressed entirely in black, while the other resembled Julie’s in pink sweatpants and New Balance shoes. As a caption, she wrote “Reunited and it feels so good” as a sticker on the post.
Now, at age 27, life seems even better since Todd and Julie’s long prison terms, which were originally 12 and 7 years respectively, have been shortened.
Savannah expressed her gratitude profusely on Instagram Stories following the news about Trump’s pardon, saying ‘I can’t thank you enough.’ She added with excitement, ‘Relief is on its way! My parents will have a chance to begin anew.’
She added, “I still don’t believe it’s real—I’m freaking out.”

In August 2019, a federal grand jury in Atlanta brought charges against Todd Chrisley and Julie Chrisley on 12 counts, including wire fraud, conspiring to commit bank fraud, and conspiring to defraud the United States. As reported by NBC News, the alleged offenses date back to the mid-2000s. Among the accusations are evading nearly $2 million in state taxes between 2008 and 2016 and concealing over $1 million from the IRS.
On the eve of the indictment, Todd asserted that both he and his wife were blameless, alleging instead that a trusted staff member had been embezzling funds and extorting them.
In his Instagram post, he asserted, “There’s nothing we’re hiding and no actions for which we should feel ashamed. We are confident in our innocence, backed by substantial proof and numerous supporting witnesses.
Three long years have passed since my life took a dramatic turn. It wasn’t until then that the stars of Chrisley Knows Best found themselves standing in court. After three grueling weeks of testimonies, I, along with my partner, chose to plead not guilty. However, on June 7, 2022, we were found guilty on all charges of tax evasion and bank fraud. This is a journey I never anticipated, but it’s one that I must navigate now.
The U.S. attorney’s office claimed that the pair, along with their accountant named Peter Tarantino (who faced trial alongside them), had collaborated in an attempt to deceive banks out of approximately $30 million across a ten-year period.
In my fervent admiration for truth and justice, I can’t help but echo the words of Keri Farley, Special Agent in Charge of FBI Atlanta, spoken back in June 2022: “Today’s verdict underscores a profound truth – fame, fortune, or position hold no sway over justice when one resorts to lies, deceit, and theft. The guilty verdict on all counts for these three defendants serves as yet another reminder that the pursuit of financial gains through illicit means ultimately leads only to judgment.
After a span of five months, the Northern District of Georgia handed down a sentence of 12 years in prison for Todd, while Julie received a sentence of seven years. (Meanwhile, Peter was given a three-year prison term.)
For approximately ten years, the accused individuals swindled banks out of a vast amount of money, around tens of millions, without fulfilling their federal tax obligations. As stated by U.S. Attorney Ryan K. Buchanan in November 2022, the severity of their prison terms underscores the extent of their criminal activities and should deter others from misusing our nation’s community banking system for illicit personal enrichment.
In September 2023, the sentences for both Julie and Todd were adjusted: Julie’s release date was moved up by a year and a half to 2024, while Todd’s original 2035 release date was brought forward by two years.
Jay Surgent, their lawyer, stated to Insider in September 2023 that there’s no question about it, Todd and Julie are exceptional prisoners serving extended sentences. Currently, Todd is left with a sentence of ten years, while Julie’s term has been reduced to five years.
In January 2023, the pair began serving their individual jail terms. Todd was incarcerated at the Federal Correctional Institution (FCI) Pensacola, Florida, while Julie served her sentence at a separate federal penitentiary in Lexington, Kentucky.
Approximately half a year since Julie and Todd were imprisoned separately, their daughter Savannah Chrisley disclosed some details about their well-being. She revealed an interesting fact: while serving their sentences, they did not maintain any contact with each other.
195 days had passed since they last communicated, as she expressed in her Instagram post from August 2023. Her heart was heavy with sorrow… If anyone can aid in achieving justice, please do!
She also pushed back at rumors about their time in prison.
In my fangirl enthusiasm, I can’t help but chuckle at the comment, “Geez, he’s let himself go,” she shared on her Unlocked with Savannah Chrisley podcast. However, I must admit, if he was out, I’d encourage him to keep that look. Honestly, it suits him! He’s got an impressive prison barber, if you ask me.
Nevertheless, Todd expressed his concerns regarding the treatment he received at the federal prison camp in Pensacola, Florida, despite being incarcerated.
He stated during a phone call for the show Cuomo on December 2023, “The food has exceeded its shelf life,” he explained. “It’s been over a year beyond its expiration date.
He went on to say, “There are rats and squirrels infesting your storage facility where the food is kept. They disguised it with plastic sheets, but then they ripped open the ceiling because of the extensive black mold growth. In the process, they discovered a deceased cat hidden in the ceiling, which unfortunately fell onto the food.
Besides the atrocities happening in the cafeteria, he claimed that an individual also tried to blackmail his family members.
He mentioned that a picture was taken of him as he slept and it was sent to his daughter. He then requested $2,600 per month for her protection.
In the absence of their parents due to legal circumstances, Savannah, who is responsible for looking after her younger siblings Grayson and Chloe, has shared how their incarcerations and their limited communication have been a heavy burden on her.
She revealed to TopMob News in March 2024 that the last conversation they had was when they were both taken to federal prison earlier that day. She claimed that her father is facing a significant amount of retaliation due to the family’s vocal criticisms regarding the prison conditions.
In truth, she claimed that the prison officials were hindering much of his email communication with my mother.
As a die-hard fan, I can’t hide the fact that the experience sometimes left me reeling, but I didn’t want it to be all about me.
Savannah expressed on her podcast, Unlocked in April 2024, that she finds it difficult to accept the fact that life seems to keep going as usual without her parents involved. This sensation is also present for her with certain people in her own life, as if they’re just carrying on with their lives regardless.
She went on saying, “I’m finding it difficult to breathe, both figuratively and literally. It’s a struggle, not just for me personally, but also in managing our finances with the children, juggling my role as a parent, and dealing with my relationship.
In June 2024, a three-judge panel from the 11th U.S. Circuit Court of Appeals overturned Julie’s seven-year prison sentence that was imposed in 2022. The court maintained her convictions but deemed that the presiding judge had incorrectly calculated the reality star’s sentencing length.
In their decision, the judges explained that the district court failed to specify the evidence it used to convict Julie for losses prior to 2007. Since we can’t locate this evidence in the case records ourselves, they have decided to overturn Julie’s sentence and return the case to the district court. The district court is now required to make the necessary factual determinations regarding the loss, restitution, forfeiture, and sentencing for Julie and then issue a new sentence accordingly.
In this scenario, the judge assigned her case to a lower court for them to decide on any necessary changes in her sentence, whereas Todd’s sentence stayed the same.
After having her prison sentence overturned three months ago, a court in Atlanta eventually confirmed Julie’s original seven-year prison sentence. In a heartfelt show of remorse, she apologized, both to her kids and the court, for her actions.
During the September 25th court hearing, as reported by People, Julie expressed, “Over a significant period, I’ve pondered carefully on what I wished to convey, and I deeply regret the actions and circumstances that have brought us to this point.” She added, “I’ve spent 20 months in prison, but my feelings of remorse extend far beyond those 20 months, encompassing the time leading up to the trial. I am truly sorry for the actions that led to our current situation.
She’s made every possible effort to reconnect with her family. She’s even learned new abilities like operating a forklift and serving food properly. This phase of her life has been incredibly challenging. She can never fully repay her children for the hardships they’ve endured, and for that, she expresses her deepest regret.
The Chrisleys are returning home, as they’ve been granted a presidential pardon by Donald Trump, which he confirmed during a phone conversation with Savannah on May 27th, 2025.
Savannah expressed her gratitude to TopMob News, stating that for the last two and a half years she has tirelessly worked to secure the release of her parents. This long-awaited moment is an answer to many prayers, and she is deeply thankful to President Trump for recognizing the truth and reuniting her family.
They were both released on May 28, 2025.
