Savannah Chrisley Says Mom Julie’s Resentencing is “Retaliation”

As I delve into the vibrant lives of the Chrisley family, I am struck by their undeniable charisma and the strong bonds that tie them together. From the red carpet glitz of the Academy of Country Music Awards to the heartwarming moments on shows like “Hollywood Game Night” and “Build A Baby”, it’s clear that this family thrives in the spotlight while maintaining a deep sense of love and unity.

Savannah Chrisley is calling out what she sees as injustice.

Following the confirmation of a seven-year imprisonment sentence against her mother (Julie Chrisley) for tax evasion and bank fraud charges by a federal court, Savannah remains steadfast in her belief that the judgment was influenced by personal biases.

In the October 1st episode of her “Unlocked” podcast, the 27-year-old stated, “I firmly believe that the judge’s actions are a form of retaliation. This seems to stem from us making use of our right to appeal and being partly successful in it. Yesterday’s court proceedings suggested that this wasn’t just about exercising our right to an appeal; it was also because she doesn’t appreciate my vocal nature.

Savannah went on, recalling her experience in the courtroom during the resentencing hearing, “Various individuals expressed their astonishment, commenting, ‘Wow, you seemed like the one being tried.’ This was due to how the judge addressed me. She appeared to be pointing a gun at me as she spoke.

Savannah shared her thoughts on the court proceedings with her family lawyer, Alex Little, who is also representing her family during this time when her father, Todd Chrisley, is serving a 10-year sentence.

She remarked, “Even my legal team is taken aback. They’ve never witnessed a judge speak so disrespectfully towards family members like this. It’s utterly unprecedented.

Prior to Julie’s hearing, it was claimed by Alex and Savannah that the judge had accused Savannah of lying about her parents’ situation to their 11-year-old daughter Chloe, regarding this matter. As Alex stated to reporters, “We are equally disheartened by the personal attacks on our family members; such behavior is unacceptable.

Concerning Chloe, he stated, “It seemed as if Chloe was being deceived, and those actions felt like personal assaults against her family. In all my years in court, I’ve rarely witnessed a judge making such direct attacks on family members.

TopMob News attempted to contact Judge Eleanor L. Ross at the U.S. District Court for the Northern District of Georgia, yet no response was received.

Even though Savannah harbored doubts about why her mother’s conviction was upheld, given that a panel of judges had previously ruled in June that there wasn’t enough evidence linking Julie to the entire bank fraud scheme (thus overturning her sentence), the alum of Growing Up Chrisley declared her intention to keep supporting her mother’s case.

She stated, “With what I currently have, I stand to lose nothing more. My mother and father are both inside. In light of my circumstances, it seems there’s nothing left for me to lose. On the contrary, I stand to gain much.

Right after Julie’s hearing, at which her sentence was confirmed, Savannah expressed to journalists that the verdict was “completely unjust.

Alex pointed out back then that Julie’s jail term could instead have served as an opportunity for rehabilitation outside of prison.

The lawyer stated about Julie, “She won’t cause harm to anyone if she returns home tomorrow.” Regarding this matter, the question becomes, ‘How severe should the punishment be? How much pain should be inflicted?’ I had hoped that the court would consider this today. However, unfortunately, that wasn’t the outcome.

He also spoke to what he saw as a conflation of Todd and Julie’s culpability.

He stated during the press conference that it’s clear to anyone who followed the trial for three weeks that there were two parties involved. However, he believes it’s hard to contend that she was the mastermind or played a significant role in the main events. Sometimes when prosecuting a husband and wife, the specific roles can become blurred. He emphasized the importance of ensuring this doesn’t happen.

He continued,  “I think that may have happened here a little bit that they were thrown in as the couple, and the couple got punished. I don’t think Julie got individual sentencing today.”
