Scarlet Witch REPLACED?! Marvel Fans are in SHOCK!

It appears that recent rumors indicate Marvel Studios might be considering a different magic-user character from the MCU to potentially replace Elizabeth Olsen’s Scarlet Witch in future projects, following her apparent demise in 2022’s “Doctor Strange in the Multiverse of Madness”. During her final confrontation with Benedict Cumberbatch’s Doctor Strange, Olsen’s character was buried beneath Mount Wundagore. However, since then, fans have been introduced to a new character who possesses magical abilities – Joe Locke’s Wiccan, whose consciousness was transferred into the body of a random teenage boy after being born from Scarlet Witch’s powers.

It appears that Marvel Studios may be considering a new character to take over the role of Scarlet Witch, previously played by Elizabeth Olsen, as per a recent report from insider Alex Perez. However, this doesn’t necessarily mean that Olsen’s Wanda won’t return at some point in the future, as there have been long-standing rumors about her comeback. Instead, it seems that Marvel is focusing on introducing the next wave of superpowered sorcerers to the universe.

In response to a reader’s query during his routine Cosmic Circus Q&A sessions, Perez disclosed the information about the possible future of Olsen’s Scarlet Witch in the Marvel Cinematic Universe.

I express my belief, as a fan, that the Scarlet Witch might make a return in some capacity. Interestingly, Marvel Studios seems to be readying her in-universe offspring, Billy and Tommy, who could potentially assume her roles as Wiccan and Speed within the MCU.

Q: “Hi Alex!  Do you think we will get to see the Scarlet Witch Post-Secret Wars?”

A: “I think so, but they’re already prepping Billy and Tommy to take over.”

Readers haven’t witnessed Tommy Maximoff fully unleash his superhero abilities within the Marvel Cinematic Universe thus far, whereas Billy has already developed into a character that closely mirrors his depiction in the Young Avengers comic books. It’s not officially known when Scarlet Witch will reappear in the Marvel Cinematic Universe, but there are strong hints that she might. In early May, director Joe Russo of Avengers: Doomsday subtly suggested her possible return as part of a major MCU event film, saying “we’ll see.

Since 2014, Elizabeth Olsen has portrayed the cherished Marvel character, making her first appearance alongside her superhero sibling Quicksilver (portrayed by Aaron Taylor Johnson) as a sneak peek after the credits in “Captain America: The Winter Soldier“. Since then, she’s appeared in a total of eight MCU productions as this character, with one of them being her own streaming series set within the comic book universe, titled “WandaVision“.

Why Scarlet Witch Needs To Pass the MCU Torch?

Although it appears that the Scarlet Witch has perished in the Marvel Cinematic Universe for now, there’s still a chance she might return and shine once more.

It appeared that how Elizabeth Olsen’s character departed wasn’t fitting as an epic conclusion for a veteran Marvel Cinematic Universe hero, suggesting there’s a good chance she’ll make a comeback and get the farewell she truly deserves.

Olsen often expresses her desire to return, stating that she’d “really enjoy continuing” if offered the opportunity. Why not reprise her role and provide her character with a “phoenix-like rebirth,” a moment it seems to be missing so far?

As a dedicated cinephile, I can’t help but feel a surge of excitement about this latest news. It appears that the mantle of our beloved franchise is set to be handed over from her to her extraordinary superhero offspring. What an intriguing turn of events!

In WandaVision, although Wanda was able to interact with her sons, she didn’t get to see what (at least) Billy has transformed into. It’s important to note that the last time we saw her with her superhero children on-screen, it was a heartbreaking moment as she had to bid them farewell.

It’s understandable why Marvel Studios might plan to reintroduce her character, allow her to witness the Avengers her sons are evolving into, and eventually pass the torch to them as they take on larger roles in the Marvel Cinematic Universe.
