Scarlett Johansson Refused To Do One Thing for Jurassic World Rebirth Publicity (and It’s Surprising)

Scarlett Johansson, an uncommon Hollywood A-lister without a social media footprint, decided against joining the platform for promoting ‘Jurassic World Rebirth‘. In a comprehensive chat with ‘InStyle’, the Academy Award-nominated actress shared her views on social media and disclosed that Universal Studios had suggested she create an Instagram account to boost interest in the upcoming ‘Jurassic World Rebirth’ premiere. Although she appreciates the advantages of utilizing such platforms (Johansson has featured in posts from her skincare brand, The Outset), she doesn’t find social media appealing enough for it to become a part of her personal lifestyle.

In her own words, “Today, I received an email from Universal [Pictures], asking if I would be open to using Instagram in conjunction with the launch of ‘Jurassic World Rebirth‘. Johansson explained that she faces a lot of persuasion to participate in social media. Additionally, she expressed her doubt about whether she could maintain her authentic self on such platforms.

She emphasized that everything she shares is grounded in truth, which is essential. If she were someone who loved social media, she could easily hop on the trend. However, she’s not. Regardless, she believes the movie will succeed well enough.

In the upcoming movie “Jurassic World Rebirth,” Johansson portrays Zora Bennett, a skilled covert ops agent. She undertakes a perilous journey to retrieve DNA samples from Earth’s largest dinosaur species, with the goal of using them to create a life-saving drug. The film is slated for release in July, under the direction of Gareth Edwards. Alongside Johansson, the star-studded cast includes Mahershala Ali, Jonathan Bailey, and Rupert Friend.

Before the debut of the movie “Rebirth”, Universal has been ramping up its promotional efforts. In February, they unveiled the first official trailer for the film, emphasizing its fearsome dinosaurs. The studio also showcased this blockbuster during this year’s Super Bowl, launching a TV advertisement.

As a movie critic, I confidently predict that “Jurassic World Rebirth” will undoubtedly perform well at the box office. The previous three installments of this iconic series, despite receiving mixed reviews, collectively raked in over $1 billion globally. Given this impressive track record, it’s safe to say that “Rebirth” is set to be one of the highest-grossing films of 2023, especially considering it releases during a packed July lineup featuring blockbusters like “Superman” and “The Fantastic Four: First Steps”.

Releasing on the ever-profitable Fourth of July weekend can only boost its earnings, even if the word-of-mouth isn’t particularly strong. The Jurassic Park franchise has been a staple in Hollywood for over 30 years, and “Rebirth” is poised to continue this legacy of cinematic excellence.

It doesn’t matter if Johansson decides to open an Instagram account or not; it won’t impact the box office sales of “Rebirth”. However, it’s clear why Universal wanted their star on the platform, given her extensive fan base from Marvel and other high-profile projects. With an Instagram account, she could easily reach millions by promoting “Rebirth” with behind-the-scenes clips and photos. But her decision to stay away from social media is reasonable, and “Rebirth” looks set to do well this summer regardless.
