Scary Movie Star Anna Faris Reveals Her Condition to Return for a Reboot

As a hardcore fan of the Scary Movie franchise since its inception, I can’t help but feel a mix of excitement and nostalgia upon hearing that Paramount is rebooting this hilarious series. The memories of watching Anna Faris and Regina Hall bring their iconic characters Cindy Campbell and Brenda Meeks to life on the big screen are still fresh in my mind.

In April, Paramount revealed that the “Scary Movie” franchise will be revived with a new installment slated for release in 2025. Though details about the film’s specifics are scarce, fans have pondered if any of the original cast members might return. Anna Faris, a star from the earlier “Scary Movie” films, has now shared her conditions for rejoining the project. For Faris, it all depends on whether Regina Hall intends to reprise her role as well.

“I really enjoy collaborating with Reginas Hirsch again,” Faris shared with People (as reported by Bloody Disgusting). “Her company is simply priceless. Regina Hall would undoubtedly be my top pick, accompanied by financial rewards. However, my preference leans heavily towards working with Regina once more.”

Faris also expressed her affection for the Scary Movie franchise, calling it her “bootcamp”.

She expressed her affection for that franchise: “I have fond memories of it. Those movies were instrumental in shaping me, particularly during my formative years. If I had to make a high school analogy, those films significantly influenced my development. They taught me how to handle props, fall convincingly, and take convincing blows to the head – all for the sake of a well-timed movie scene.”

I was a huge fan of the “Scary Movie” franchise from 2000 to 2006, and I had the pleasure of watching Faris shine as Cindy Campbell in every installment during that period. Similarly, Hall brought Brenda Meeks to life in those same films. Regrettably, neither actor graced our screens in “Scary Movie 5,” which came out in 2013.

What Do We Know About the Scary Movie Reboot?

Neal H. Moritz, known for producing the “Fast and Furious” franchise, will oversee production of the new “Scary Movie.” Paramount and Miramax are collaborating on this project, which is planned to start shooting this autumn. The previous “Scary Movie” installments parodied popular horror and cultural films through comedy. However, it remains uncertain if this approach will be maintained for the reboot or which movies the reboot intends to satirize.

In the year 2000, the first installment of “Scary Movie,” a comedy film directed and co-written by Keenen Ivory Wayans with screenplay contributions from Marlon and Shawn Wayans, was released. The duo also starred in the production. The storyline revolves around a group of teenagers who unintentionally kill a man, hide his body in a lake, and pledge to keep their discovery a secret. However, a mysterious figure donning a Ghostface mask emerges a year later, terrorizing the group members one by one. This movie paid homage to various films such as “Scream,” “I Know What You Did Last Summer,” and “The Blair Witch Project.” The success of “Scary Movie” led to the production of its sequel in 2001, titled “Scary Movie 2.” Three more movies followed in the franchise.
