Scott Mills steps in on BBC Radio 2 as Vernon Kay misses start of show

As a long-time fan of Scott Mills, I must say that this man is nothing short of extraordinary! His ability to adapt and handle any situation thrown his way is truly commendable. From stepping in for Vernon Kay on BBC Radio 2, filling in for Zoe Ball, discussing interest rates at midday, and even winning Celebrity Race Across the World with husband Sam Vaughan, Scott just keeps on delivering!

Currently, Scott Mills finds himself with a full schedule since he filled in for Vernon Kay on BBC Radio 2 this morning. The delay in Vernon’s arrival was due to a late train.

This morning’s broadcast commenced with a message from the host addressed to Scott, saying: “Hey, Scott. To be completely honest, I didn’t think it would come to this. I’m about to do something unprecedented – I plan to be the first one to…

It’s quite challenging indeed, and those familiar with the show will appreciate the struggle of being first in line. However, here I am, far from central London, the studio, and the microphone, feeling increasingly frustrated as the distance grows.

“And now people on the platform are staring at me because they think I’ve gone mad – well, I have.”

Scott informed listeners that he didn’t know exactly how long he would continue broadcasting, but added that “Vernon is en route, keep your fingers crossed”.

By approximately 10:30 am on Thursday, the 19th of September, Scott was still broadcasting and informing listeners that Vernon would be joining them shortly since his vehicle had arrived.

Supporters have voiced their backing for Mills, as he steps into the role of hosting Zoe Ball’s morning program temporarily, following her absence from broadcasting since mid-August.

Sending my thoughts and well-wishes to @vernonkay as his late train finally gets going, and applauding Mills for handling the situation so well.

Today, I was absolutely blown away by @scott_mills on Radio 2. He did an outstanding job covering Zoe Ball on the morning show and filled in splendidly for Vernon Kay later in the day. Simply brilliant!

Today, Scott Mills is doing an exceptional job on Radio 2! He’s stepping in for Zoe Ball in the morning, followed by a stint for Vernon Kay. Later, he’ll discuss interest rates at noon, fill in for Jeremy Vine, host his own show at 2, and finally, take over for Sara Cox to find out who’s totally ‘teavoted’. Simply fantastic!

Followers of the popular radio jockey were equally thrilled to witness his victory in “Celebrity Race Across the World.” He, along with his partner Sam Vaughan, clinched the winning position in the recently concluded season, which aired in its finale on BBC One last night.

Reflecting on our race experience, Scott remarked: “It’s been thrilling, challenging, and maddening at times, but we’ve always supported one another – through the best and worst moments, the highs and lows. This journey merely confirms that we’re an exceptional team, a victorious one.
