As a long-time fan of the original Constantine film, I’ve been eagerly awaiting any news about a sequel for what feels like an eternity. The prospect of Keanu Reeves reprising his role as the troubled exorcist John Constantine was enough to keep me hopeful, even amidst the numerous delays and setbacks.
As a devoted fan of Keanu Reeves and the “Constantine” series, I’d like to share some encouraging news with you all. Back in 2022, there was an exciting announcement that had us all buzzing: Keanu and director Francis Lawrence were teaming up once more for the long-awaited sequel. However, since then, things have taken a turn with Warner Bros. and DC undergoing significant creative changes. This has left some uncertainty regarding the future of “Constantine 2.” But fear not, dear fans!
Although the public hasn’t seen much progress with the production of Constantine 2, di Bonaventura reassured us that behind the scenes, work is underway. He mentioned that a script is nearly complete.
The producer shared with us that the script is currently being worked on and will soon be ready. In fact, we’re in an excellent position as the popular movie star who’s eager to reprise their role in this franchise is on board. This opens up numerous opportunities for exploring deep themes, eccentricities, and even spiritual aspects, much like what made the initial film so captivating. It comes as no shock to me that Keanu Reeves is drawn to this project.
During the SDCC interview last Thursday, I shared that I’m unaware of any other ” Constantine” cast members joining us for the sequel, aside from Keanu. With no finished script in sight, all possibilities remain open.
Tilda Swinton, a former Constantine co-star, expressed similar sentiments during an interview with Inverse earlier this year. She revealed that she had only heard rumors about Constantine 2’s production without any specific details.
Apologies for the disappointing news: I have no information about the sequel beyond it being in production, according to Swinton. If filming isn’t imminently starting, it seems unlikely that Keanus/Gabriel will be involved. A rumor circulating is that Keanu might take on the role of Gabriel – what a delightful casting choice that would be!
From my gaming perspective, as of now, I don’t have any new info on “Constantine 2.” But the team behind the movie is fully committed and passionate about bringing it to life.
