Stephen Butchard, the writer behind The Last Kingdom, has finally revealed the official release date for his upcoming drama titled “This City Is Ours“. Viewers won’t have to wait much longer!
The crime drama, featuring actors such as Sean Bean, James Nelson-Joyce, Michael Kavanagh, Hannah Onslow, Jack McMullen, and Julie Graham, is set to make its debut at 9:00 PM on Sunday, March 23rd. You can catch it on BBC One and BBC iPlayer.
In addition to actors like Laura Aikman from Gavin & Stacey, Kevin Harvey from Time, and Saoirse-Monica Jackson from Derry Girls, this eight-part crime drama primarily unfolds in Liverpool, with shooting occurring there. Filming for the series also extended to Spain at various points.
This City Is Ours” follows the tale of Michael, a man who’s been entangled in criminal activities under the leadership of his longtime friend Ronnie, who heads the organized crime group.
As Ronnie contemplates retirement, Michael starts envisioning a new existence for himself. This is because, for the first instance in his lifespan, Michael finds himself smitten. For the first time in his life, he looks beyond the ordinary, and sees a future: something to strive for and something to risk – Diana.
The Tale of Our City recounts the love story between Michael and Diana amidst the fall of Michael’s criminal empire. For quite some time, Michael, along with Ronnie, had been skillfully smuggling cocaine into our city and beyond, right from Colombia. However, when one shipment mysteriously vanishes, Michael senses that their domain is under siege.
This City Belongs to Us delves into the consequences when Ronnie’s son, Jamie, aspires to claim their domain, leaving no seat for Michael. Both Michael and Jamie possess ambitious plans to update their gang, leading to a power struggle over its leadership. However, Michael’s main fight will be to protect the woman he cherishes and the child he yearns for.
This narrative explores themes of family, love that’s torn apart by ambition, arrogance, and avarice. It delves into the concept of power – the lengths people go to acquire and maintain it.
