As I delve deeper into the captivating journey of Kate Gosselin and her brood, I can’t help but feel awestruck by the sheer magnitude of their experiences. From the heartwarming moments of celebrating milestones to the adventurous escapades that have taken them from Alaska to New York City, it’s clear that this family is no stranger to living life to the fullest.
Following the 2006 television series “Surviving Sextuplets and Twins”, millions of viewers were happy to take up TLC’s offer for frequent updates on the lives of Jon Gosselin, his spouse Kate Gosselin, and their brood of eight children.
The reality show Jon & Kate Plus 8 was surprisingly intriguing when it first aired in 2007, with the unique family dynamic being the main attraction. However, as time passed, the focus shifted from the question of how they managed to juggle eight children, to the troubled relationship between Jon and Kate Gosselin, which ultimately led to their divorce in 2009, making headlines as one of the most compelling spectacles of the late-aughts.
But forever joining Jon and Kate is their eight: Twins Mady and Cara, born Oct. 8, 2000, and sextuplets Alexis, Aaden, Collin, Hannah, Leah and Joel, born May 10, 2004.
The calculations you made (and rechecked due to the extraordinary result seeming implausible) turned out accurate. Mady and Cara, initially appearing on the TLC show at age 6, have since graduated from college at the age of 23. Their younger siblings are currently 20 years old.
And though the Gosselins haven’t had their own show in years, the drama never stopped.
Initially, the reality show “Kate Plus 8” was taken off the air in 2011, but it returned for a span of three seasons from 2015 to 2017. However, not every one of the eight children appeared in each episode.
In August 2016, Kate, who gained full legal custody during the divorce, disclosed that Collin had specific requirements due to certain needs and was enrolled in a specialized program away from home, which catered better to his educational and social difficulties. This absence created a significant void in their family, she shared with People magazine, but they found solace in knowing he was receiving the necessary care and support.
In the very same gathering with relatives, Mady and Cara conveyed to the press that they held no desire to meet their father. However, if he aimed to establish a connection with them, discussing them on television was not the appropriate means to achieve that goal.
A few months had passed, and Jon mentioned that he had an inkling about Collin’s whereabouts but wasn’t completely certain. He expressed his intention to a judge to compel his ex-partner to reveal their son’s location, as reported by Entertainment Tonight. Kate refuted the suggestions of any suspicious activities taking place.
She stated on Good Morning America that we are both legally restricted from discussing the specifics about our children’s care and custody arrangements in depth. She added, “I have always known where he is, but I won’t disclose any further details about it to the public.” Jon’s attorney later commented that he is a dedicated father who is adhering to the law to ensure the best interests of his children are upheld.
In the past 18 months or so, I hadn’t crossed paths with Collin. However, fast-forward a couple of years, and Collin and Hannah had moved in with me. By 2020, I shared with TopMob News that my relationship with Collin and the sextuplets had grown distant.
On the July 2023 installment of Vice TV’s “Dark Side of the 2000s” titled “Jon & Kate: Family Circus”, I finally spoke up about the lingering family disputes. Since 2016, I haven’t had a conversation with any of my siblings other than Hannah that wasn’t part of our shared past.
He noted that it seemed his mother may have created a sort of emotional divide between them. “She portrayed the story to others in one manner,” he said, “and, clearly, I perceive the tale differently.” Nevertheless, Colin was willing to mend fences with everyone.
He expressed his heartfelt wish that someday, we could reconcile, leave the past conflicts aside, and once more cherish our sibling bond, making up for the lost time.
Later on, Kate shared her perspective through a post on Instagram, explaining that she and Collin’s other siblings had not been actively engaged in his life because of his past instances of erratic behavior and aggressive tendencies. Additionally, Mady claimed, according to People, that Collin had made physical threats against her and every member of her immediate family, with some incidents happening as recently as the previous year.
Jon publicly declared, “It required bravery for Collin to discuss his past, an act I wouldn’t have anticipated being met with further mistreatment, coming from a sibling who hasn’t had any contact with Collin since the sixth grade.”
Despite any differences, Collin maintains a deep affection for his siblings, as he expressed during an interview with Entertainment Tonight in August 2024. He made it clear that he would never intentionally harm them or tarnish their reputations in the media. However, he suspects that their negative portrayal of him and their opinions stem from their mother’s influence. In his view, if they had the opportunity to know each other today, they could develop a strong friendship.
During a conversation about his past experiences, Collin shared with the media that he wasn’t able to bid farewell to his siblings when he was sent to a facility as a child. He explained, “I didn’t understand the situation, I had no idea where I was being taken. I’ve made it clear to my family about this. Honestly, that was one of the scariest moments in my entire life. Until then, I was living at home with my siblings and my mother, and she never told me anything about where I was going or what was happening.”
In a recent account, Colin stated that his mother paid him a brief visit while he was in residence, lasting approximately thirty minutes. He further explained, “During that time, she solely scolded me and asserted that I had broken our family.”
TopMob News has attempted to contact Kate for her perspective but has not received a response as of yet. In part of her July 2023 post, however, she stated, “My beloved son Collin, who holds a special place in my heart, has been diagnosed with several psychiatric conditions over the years. Due to the safety concerns for myself, his siblings and him, he was admitted into a facility following years of outpatient care that proved inadequate for his needs.”
Given their current circumstances, it wasn’t unexpected when Kate published a photo commemorating the sextuplets’ 20th birthday this month, which showcased Alexis, Aaden, Leah and Joel but excluded Collin and Hannah. The photograph was an uncommon display, as neither parent frequently shares images of their children on social media.
The latest family photos featuring Jon, Hannah, and Colin were captured during their high school graduation ceremony last year.
Incidentally, Kate was also there, but the exes did not mingle.
In his conversation with People, Jon shared that Hannah had extended an invitation to Kate. According to him, they both managed to meet, yet there was a significant distance separating them, as wide as a football field.
On May 12th, during an Instagram Live broadcast from somewhere in South Carolina amidst his DJ sets, Jon expressed his disbelief as he remarked, “It’s hard to believe they are 20 now…” He also shared warm wishes for his children’s birthday celebration by addressing them publicly.

In 2024 on Mother’s Day, exactly two days after their sextuplets reached the age of 20, Kate paid tribute to the four who reside with her: Alexis, Aaden, Joel, and Leah.
She posted on Instagram, “Nobody teenage here anymore! Happy 20th birthday, my lifelong little ones! I adore you!” She also added the hashtags “#FeelingOld” and “#TwentyYearsofLife” or “#TwentyYearsOld” and “#ItsaPICKLE.”
Hannah shared new pics of herself on her and the other sextuplet’s 20th birthday May 10.
On to the next chapter! The sextuplet graduated from high school in 2023.
Jon posted a picture of Collin and Hannah, the sextuplets, celebrating their high school graduation in 2023; a milestone that occurred several years following their relocation to live with him.

2019 saw Kate expressing her awe and gratitude as she marked her children’s 15th birthday celebration, which has now come to an end. The festivities kicked off early with a present at 6:30 am before school! As the day unfolded, she marveled at their growth, finding it hard to believe they are already fifteen. She continues to be amazed by them daily, taking pride in the positive traits that have emerged as they near adulthood.

Jon Gosselin recently posted on Instagram, expressing his joy as he celebrated Hannah, Collin, Alexis, Aaden, Joel, and Leah’s 15th birthdays. He couldn’t believe how quickly time has passed! “I adore you all so much. I hope this is the best day of your lives and that you have a fantastic birthday weekend filled with joy! In 2018, Kate expressed her astonishment on social media when her little daughters mentioned their upcoming birthday. One of them said, “Only 12 days until we turn 14, Mom.” She found it hard to believe because she thought Leah was too young for that age. However, Leah replied with a logical question, “Yeah, true. Are you sure I’m not turning 11 or 12?” Kate reassured her, reminding Leah that she had given birth to her and they would always be her babies. She expressed her deep love for them.

Rewind to 2014 when Kate and her children found themselves visiting Alaska.
In addition, Kate took her twins, Cara Gosselin and Mady Gosselin, on a visit to New York City back in 2014, which included a stay at the Manhattan Hotel.
