On the day he proposed to Selena Gomez in December, the music producer found it necessary to concoct a few extra white lies, as the singer nearly didn’t appear for their meeting.

As a result of Selena’s reluctance to show up, the “Eastside” hitmaker had to scramble a bit.
Benny said, “She seemed uncertain about attending, telling me she wasn’t feeling well and suggesting we reschedule the event. I found myself momentarily at a loss for words as I thought about persuading her.
Initially, proposing to someone seems like the most unbelievable act, he went on. “It’s as if,” he said, “just before you plan to declare your intention of spending the rest of your life with someone, they respond by challenging you: ‘Prove to me how well you can deceive me.’ It’s the toughest thing imaginable!
As a lifestyle guide, I’d say last week before my big proposal felt like the most nerve-wracking time in my life. The pop sensation, whom I affectionately call “Hands to Myself,” seemed to be growing a bit weary of me during that period.

Indeed, the pair who unveiled their collaborative album titled “I Said I Love You First” on March 21, ended up getting engaged during that same week while enjoying an intimate Taco Bell dinner at home. However, despite Benny proposing with a ring, he and Selena aren’t hurrying to start planning their wedding just yet.
Selena shared with Jimmy Fallon that they aren’t making definite plans for the moment, and earlier emphasized that completing their upcoming album was more important than arranging their wedding.
She expressed that this moment feels incredibly unique for us as we work on this album, allowing us to deeply express ourselves and share our emotions with the world. Currently, this is primarily what I’m dedicating my efforts to.” (Rolling Stone interview, published March 17)
Benny concurred, adding that they’re still basking in the excitement of being newly engaged.
He mentioned that they tend to handle situations day by day, and this particular event is something they’re still deeply immersed in. In the very same conversation, he noted that during their discussion, she was intently gazing at her ring.
