Selena’s Family Celebrates Killer’s Parole Denial

Selena Quintanilla’s killer will remain behind bars.

After it was decided not to grant an early release to Yolanda Saldívar, who was found guilty of murdering the Tejano Music’s Queen, Selena’s family voiced their satisfaction with this decision.

Today, it’s been announced that the Texas Board of Pardons and Paroles declined parole for Yolanda Saldívar. This decision serves as a reminder that justice remains strong in honoring the precious life cut short, not only for us but also for the countless fans worldwide who mourn Selena’s untimely demise.

In a post published on an account managed by her family, it was explained that Selena’s legacy stands for love, music, and motivation. The post also honored the happiness and kindness she always displayed during her life.

In honor of her, her family and dear ones vow to safeguard her memory and tell her tale in a way that reflects its worthiness and solemnity.

After expressing a heartfelt thank you to Selena’s loyal fans since her passing in 1995, her family chose to emphasize, “We will keep honoring Selena’s life – focusing on the joy she brought us, rather than the sadness of her absence – and we invite everyone who admires her to do the same.

In January, Yolanda applied for early parole, which was before her initial eligibility date of March 30th. She is currently 64 years old and has been incarcerated since she murdered Selena, who was just 23, at a Days Inn in Corpus Christi, Texas, back then.

After deciding against granting early release to Yolanda, the Texas Board of Pardons and Parole explained in a statement to People, “Following careful examination of all relevant details, such as confidential interviews conducted, our parole panel concluded that Yolanda Saldivar should not be released on parole at this time. Her next review for parole will be scheduled for March 2030.

The “Amor Prohibido” singer later died at a hospital.

Prior to the murder, Yolanda was dismissed from her positions as manager of Selena’s boutiques and president of her fan club by Selena and her husband Chris Perez due to accusations that Yolanda was misappropriating funds.

In 1998, Yolanda initially challenged her conviction for murder, arguing that she “never intended” to take the life of Selena when she fired the gunshot.

After making the choice not to grant early release to Yolanda, the Texas Board of Pardons and Parole informed People, “Having carefully reviewed all relevant information, such as confidential interviews, it was decided by the parole panels that Yolanda Saldivar should not be granted parole. Her next review for potential parole will take place in March 2030.
