Sensationalistic False Narrative

Kacey Musgraves is shutting down rumors she was on her high horse at the 2025 Grammys.

Following a video of her emotional response to Beyoncé winning Best Country Album at the February ceremony becoming widely shared, fans assumed that Kacey Musgraves harbored some animosity towards Beyoncé. However, Kacey is now clarifying this misconception. (To view all the celebrities who attended the Grammys, click here.)

According to Kacey’s representative, the story being spread is an exaggerated and misleading account intended to create tension between two skilled female artists. However, there was no scowl or hostile expression exchanged in reality.

Before Kacey clarified her position, fans speculated that the 36-year-old harbored resentment towards Beyoncé. This theory arose from a video clip circulating online which appeared to show her displaying an unenthusiastic response when Beyoncé won the Best Country Album award for “Cowboy Carter” at the ceremony, where Kacey’s “Deeper Well” was also nominated alongside albums like “F-1 Trillion” by Post Malone, “Higher” by Chris Stapleton, and “Whirlwind” by Lainey Wilson.

“Is Kacey Musgraves mad that Beyoncé won?” one user asked on X Feb. 2. “She sure looks it.”

Another wrote, “Why Kacey Musgraves got on a stank look?”

Kacey had previously expressed her views on Beyoncé’s role within country music, and her recent statement confirmed that those rumors were unfounded. Notably, Kacey, who won Best Country Song at the 2025 awards with “The Architect,” previously stated that there was ample space for Beyoncé in the genre.

In a March 2024 interview with The Cut, Kacey expressed that the more people involved, the better. She mentioned she’s not overly concerned about others’ opinions and it doesn’t hinder her work or affect her personally. She’s always been focused on doing what she enjoys independently.

She added, “It’s just fun to watch.”
